No sign of my cassettes shipping yet, not sure what’s going on with that order! :drama: It really makes me resent paying extra for courier delivery!

 

The 5 individual member vinyls came, but sadly there was a problem with them all… :( I got them from the HMV online store. The package included five “I Am a Spice Girl” badges… each one was stuck to each front cover underneath the price sticker. Unfortunately the result of these records pressing next to each other with badges in between them, in the tight cardboard packaging, has meant that they’ve all been left with a circle shape imprint on them, and a bit of a dent from another part of the badge. To me it just doesn’t look good, and too much money spent for it to not be perfect. :( Thankfully I’ll be able to replace them with better copies quite soon, but… I’m just so :tearsmile: that my copies would have been absolutely perfect had it not been for those lame badges ruining them. Badges that were only a last minute incentive. I didn’t particularly want them, I certainly didn’t need a badge per order. I’d love to know what the person packing it thought was going to happen (I’m sure they didn’t care, but what a dumb decision that ruined my order). Sigh.

Other items that arrived yesterday; The CD (which I also got from HMV, but was in a separate package - and yes, with another badge - I have 6 of those damn things) and the zoetrope vinyl (no slipmat, as expected... another annoyance). Both CD and vinyl are fine thankfully (the CD packaging is so nice!).

So proud of Melanie C and Emma for spending some of their time promoting this release. Also, there’s an interview going around where Melanie C said C U Next Tuesday was vetoed and finally not included in Spice25. She said the song is a bit Lily Allen-ish and that eventually she’ll find a way to release it.

Number #10 did 5.3k last week. This will be close to 10k by the end of the charting week. That figure for today will include no streaming sales and lots of items not dispatched yet.

Its going to be heavily front loaded.
It will do a lot better on streaming than people realise I'm sure as the Dolby Atmos on Apple has got a lot of people listening to hear the difference. I'm happy with my prediction of 9k and #4.

That's a very strong start, already sold more than the One Touch and Fever re-issues (not comparing the artists, as I adore all three of them, but think the releases could be compared) and maybe even a bit more than I was anticipating as the release itself isn't so exciting for the general public.

Yeah, I don't see them almost doubling sales to 10k at the end of the week. Maybe we'll get a clearer picture of the total sales on Monday, but after that it's going to be sluggish.

This is Saturday figures not Monday mids. They won't double the Monday mids but they will add a decent amount with 6 more days of sales (2 being weekend days) and all the streaming sales to be added.

Thats a great start! Hope it manages to stay Top10!

 

Their streaming is always their downfall to be honest, but hopefully this time they can pull through decent enough numbers (for them!!)

It’s a good start and it should be enough to end up Top 10 on Friday even if the rest of the week is sluggish for sales. I don’t really see it adding on thousands more though, but I’d like to be wrong.

I'm confident of 9k, I'll eat my words if not but I feel streaming will be good and it will continue to sell physicals through the week.

 

I'm interested to see where else it might chart, think Ireland and France are very likely. US I see top 200 too with Melanie C's help, maybe Australia too.

The spatial audio version on Apple Music is now live and it's like a whole new experience (not always great ah!)

 

Interesting/cool:

 

- The choir bits in Mama are much better, more vollum to them

- Emma's ad lib of 'they never end' in the Wannabe chorus is now included as her ad lib of 'Honey' in Something Kinda Funny :wub:

- The mix of Say You'll Be There is cool, there are some extra production elements that really shine

- They sound heavenly in most of the now-more-prominent melodies, specially in Say You'll Be There!

- Last Time Lover is WAY sexier and they sound lush

- The last bits of Wannabe with the 'you gotta you gotta you gotta' has some extra adlibs from the girls (that they always do live!!) which are very very cool!

 

Bad bits:

- Some of the songs cut at the end really badly... hope they fix this as it is actually really bad and sounds really unprofessional... it's clearly error stuff but Love Thing and If You Cant Dance just cut almost two thirds into a bit of the beat/line and it is sooo noticeable...

- 2 Become 1 now has a water drip sound just like Oxygen going through it and IT IS RUINED FOR ME :huh: Also they sadly used Geri's verse instead of Victoria's which is a very big missed opportunity to right a wrong....

- Wannabe's production sounds a bit flat to be honest compared to the original

- Who Do You Think You Are has some extra 'ooohh's at the beginning that sound a bit corny to me, but nothing major...

 

Anyway.... overall a cool experience and I am sure if the sudden cuts wherent there, it would have been excellent indeeed to listen to it overall!

 

I think im gonna stick with Spotify's version actually....
