July 17, 20214 yr It feels like it's 2001 all over again. Atomic Kitten back in the singles chart, S Club 7 in the album charts. I wouldn't have believed this if someone told me this two weeks ago! This has been quite a random release as well, I had no idea it was out until the midweeks and there is no release on streaming. Is it just physical sales that made it chart? I don't think Rachel even mentioned it on any of her social and doubt the other did much more.
July 17, 20214 yr Is it just physical sales that made it chart? Yeh! 1,927 CDs. Enough to make it #6 in the physical chart and the sales chart! Quite remarkable, I wouldn't have expected a release of this nature to sell that much. A pity it didn't have a digital release and doesn't have any streaming allocated to it, because it was only 709 sales away from the Top 20! When Best was reissued in May 2015 it also reached #35. That was with 2,676 sales, 46% of that figure being digital. So this Essential CD has actually sold more physically in a week than the Best reissue did!
July 19, 20214 yr I didnt expect this to be top 100 at all this week even in the mids, its 83 today, it would be nice if it could get that second week top 100.
July 20, 20214 yr A second week in the top 100 would be a great achievement if it could manage it. Considering most to all fans would've purchased it week one.
July 24, 20214 yr 'Essential' fell from #35 to #132. It sold 1,126 CDs to place there (it sold 1,927 the previous week) 09/07/2021 - N/A - 7 copies (did each member of S Club 7 buy it? :kink: ) 16/07/2021 - #35 - 1,927 copies 23/07/2021 - #132 - 1,126 copies Total: 3,060 copies When this CD was announced I really didn't imagine it doing these sorts of numbers! If only it had been digitally released, it would have managed even better positions with presumably a few hundred streaming units included.
July 24, 20214 yr So the difference between no.35 one week and no.132 the next is around only 800 copies. So close. You'd think if you made the Top 40 with less than 2k sales that you'd be safe for Top 100 selling over 1k.
July 24, 20214 yr ^ It is a bit crazy how tightly packed together the album sales are nowadays! #100 sold 1,250 this week, only 124 sales more than S Club 7. They were just 286 sales higher than the #200 (840 sales). By the way, S Club 7 Essential is #15 in the physical chart this week.
July 25, 20214 yr 'Essential' fell from #35 to #132. Ha! I was one of the seven in the first week as I picked it up in a supermarket on the Thursday (they’d put it out a day early as they tend to with all new releases they stock, tut tut).
July 25, 20214 yr That's actually not bad for something that was thrown out with no publicity or fanfare, do you think it's not out of the question there might be a modicum of interest if they were to reform as a full 7-piece?
August 3, 20213 yr A third week in the Top 200 :cheeseblock: 1. 16/07/2021 - #35 - 1,927 copies 2. 23/07/2021 - #132 - 1,126 copies 3. 30/07/2021 - #178 - 860 copies Total: 3,920 copies (including 7 copies pre-release) In Monday's midweeks it's at #137 :cheeseblock: Hopefully it'll be able to hold on for a 4th week (the previous Monday midweek was #128 and it ended up at #178 on Friday). Sales chart run: 6-16-30... Physical chart run: 6-15-26...
