Posted May 31, 20214 yr We have a WWE thread already but with AEW being around for 2 years now so for those wrestling fans who watch AEW or casually watch some bits here's the discussion thread for it. -- I watch the PPV's and Dynamite. Occasionally a dark or elevation math too but the former two mainly. Haven't seen DON yet but it looks like a pretty slick card to me. Ihave already seen the results spoilers though. Mark Henry and Lio Rush just two more WWE guys to jump ship :') Edited March 5, 20241 yr by Roba.
May 31, 20214 yr Author Also I really don't get Britt Baker unfortunately but I suppose it's a good thing there's a new women's champion after a year+. I really do dislike year long reigns ugh.
May 31, 20214 yr Was a great show last night! Lio Rush will be a great addition, although why does each Joker seem to botch a move each time. Iconics will surely be the next to show up considering Shaun Spears is there. Still not over MJF getting hole punched.
June 2, 20214 yr Author Okay I've seen everything bar the Stadium Stampede (and Serena Deeb v Riho) so here's my ratings for DON Hangman Page v Brian Cage 8/10 a solid opener and I hope we now get Adam v Kenny for the title. Young Bucks v Moxley/Kingston 9.5/10 I can't abide the Bucks but can't deny they are talented and this was a fun title match. Casino Battle Royal 6/10 a bit of a mess at times but battle royals are usually all over the place. Wasn't a fan of Private Party helping Matt stay in so long but Jungle Boy was a good winner. Cody v Anthony Agogo 3/10 underwhelming and Agogo is very green imo. Miro v Lance Archer 9/10 really enjoyed this actually. It's a shame Archer always loses the big matches but of course Miro wasn't going to lose this quickly. The only thing I wasn't a fan of is the ending.. why do they have so many matches end by passing out in a submission? Hikaru Shida v Dr.Britt Baker 7/10 again a good women's match so can't complain but I dunno I just don't get the major hype for Britt.. also she seems to use Seth's moves too (Curb Stomp) so not sure what I think of that. Sting and Darby v Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky 7.5/10 wasn't really sure what I'd think of this but I love the team of Sting and Darby. They just seem like a natural fit to me and Page and Sky were impressive as a team too. Omega v Cassidy v Pac 9.5/10 hated the involvement of The Good Brothers and the bit with Omega and his titles was a bit shit too but other than that what an amazing match. Best of the night for me. Stadium Stampede Inner Circle v The Pinnacle - To be edited in later when I get round to watching. Edited June 2, 20214 yr by Roba~
June 5, 20214 yr Author Andrade is the latest to join AEW. He's being managed by Vicki Guerrero! A big signing for them. Edited June 5, 20214 yr by Roba~
July 22, 20214 yr Author Chavo Guerrero joins AEW  CM Punk and Daniel Bryan seemingly have deals sorted too. Edited July 22, 20214 yr by Roba~
August 21, 20213 yr Author and after 7 + years CM Punk has returned to wrestling debuting for AEW on Rampage First Dance last night and the crowd went insane (I've not seen it yet still got to catch up on a couple more shows before). Scheduled for his first match back against Darby Allin at All Out! Also the fans got those ice cream bars he mentioned in that infamous promo 10 years ago lol. Edited August 21, 20213 yr by Roba~
August 22, 20213 yr It's good that CM Punk is back but I can't help but feel that after 7 years away from Wrestling the ring rust is going to be too much and the fact that he's in his early 40's now wont help matters either.
August 26, 20213 yr It's good that CM Punk is back but I can't help but feel that after 7 years away from Wrestling the ring rust is going to be too much and the fact that he's in his early 40's now wont help matters either. The expectations are gonna be so high as well, I don't like the idea of him facing Darby Allin first either. He's had a great run lately which will now no doubt lead to be being beaten by a 42 year old. The men's matches are so so so much more entertaining I find than WWEs. Lately I won't miss a Sammy Guevara match, for numerous reasons of course.
August 28, 20213 yr Author Yeah which sucks for Darby but you wouldn't expect anytime in the next 6 months for someone to face Punk and win. It's just unfortunate from that aspect that AEW went All Out on the dream matches and that Darby happened to be right at the top of the list. Besides he'll recover from it just fine. Knowing AEW they will continue treating Darby as a major player. I'm definitely liking what I'm seeing from Jamie Hayter at the moment. That botch from Red Velvet was AWFUL though. She needs to be taken off TV for a while and get some more training. Edited August 28, 20213 yr by Roba~
September 6, 20213 yr Author Ruby Soho, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson all making their debut last night at All Out whilst CM Punk defeats Darby Allin in his return match. Huge night for AEW. However I'm ngl some of the earlier matches didn't impress me very much oops and I don't know if I was expecting more from him but Punk's match was for me a tad on the underwhelming side. Not bad just expected more and the women's battle royal was awful too :'( MJF/Jericho and Omega/Christian were the best of the night imo.
September 6, 20213 yr For me the steel cage tag team match between Lucha Bros and Young Bucks was match of the night, it was superb from start to finish. My favourite part of that match was when the 4 of them were doing a sequence of superkicks in a domino kind of effect. CM Punk was never going to wrestle in the same way that he used to after having a long 7 year gap so it was no surprise to me how that match went, I think people were being blinded by nostalgia in the lead up to All Out which is why I was never excited about his return. He's still got some of his moveset but the standard is not the same. I really liked the ending of the MJF Vs Chris Jericho match and the ending of the PPV as a whole with Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson making their debuts. It was a solid show all round but at the same time it did feel quite intense with the lack of gaps in between matches, the people in the arenas would have had to have bladders made of steel  , the show as a whole was really long also.
September 6, 20213 yr I'm gutted I'm going to see a friend this evening, I'm DYING to watch this
September 8, 20213 yr All Out was so good, AEW's men's division is so much more entertaining to watch than WWEs. I think I'm in love with MJF. Jade Cargill looks like an absolute beast, she surely will be head of the division before long. Must be annoying for AEW talent to watch former WWE ones come in and win right away.
September 8, 20213 yr Author Yeah Jade is going to be huge. Not sure what's been going on with her lately though as she's competing on Dark and Elevation more recently. Agreed about the AEW being possibly annoyed at Ruby winning. I must admit I wouldn't have picked Ruby to win it over Thunder Rosa personally but I understand they want fresh match ups. Ruby's first single match will be with Jamie. That'll be a fun match but again Jamie shouldn't be losing this soon after returning :( Ruby, Jade, Jamie and Thunder (Tay and Anna as well) are the ones that I'm liking in the women's division right now.
September 30, 20213 yr Watching last night's Dynamite currently, Sammy just continues to impress so much, he's incredible. Looking forward to Fridays, Nyla, Thunder and Jade Cargill match.
October 4, 20213 yr Author Looking forward to Fridays, Nyla, Thunder and Jade Cargill match. Just seen Rampage and those three girls put on a fun match, hardly any sloppy moments either. Jade is such a star! Nick and Bryan was enjoyable too.
October 6, 20213 yr Just seen Rampage and those three girls put on a fun match, hardly any sloppy moments either. Jade is such a star! Nick and Bryan was enjoyable too. I was hoping the womens match would've been longer, although what was good was that despite it not being for a title, they all fought as if it was for one.
November 15, 20213 yr Author I didn't watch it live as I got tired and went to sleep but caught up with it yesterday and yes it was an enjoyable show. Not sure I'd rank it as one of the best but still a pretty solid ppv through out. The storys for Hangman Page, Omega, MJF and Darby were so pitch perfect I thought especially Adam Pages redemption story playing off so smoothly. My ranking of the matches would be: Fave to least fave MJF v Darby - Perhaps AEWS best ppv opener ever? What a MATCH. Hangman Page v Omega Superkliq v Jurassic Express and Christian Cage Eddie Kingston v CM Punk Pac and Cody v Andrade and Malakei Black Tay Conti v Britt Baker (bit sloppy in parts but Tay keeps improving for me, some real slick offense in there) FTR v Lucha Bro's Inner Circle v America Top Team and Men of the Year (technically awful but fun at the same time lol) Miro v Bryan Danielson (going to be a rather unpopular opinion but I found this quite boring however still not awful or anything and there were some decent bits but overall meh) Also Jamie Hayter and Nyla Rose v Shida and Thunder Rosa was decent but nothing special. Really wanna see more of Hayter though. She's probably the best powerhouse they have even prefer her to Jade lol. Edited November 15, 20213 yr by Rob S
