It's been talked about for *years* now, but Robert Smith has revealed while doing promo for the new CHVRCHES single that the new album by The Cure will be revealed in about 6 weeks time! Their first since 2008's '4:13 Dream'.

There is also another album planned, with one being more "doom and gloom" and the other with happy vibes.

Mixes Of A Lost World announced for 13th June 2025. A remix album of (one of my faves last year) SOALW. Track list (Deluxe 3CD) CD 1 I CAN NEVER SAY GOODBYE (Paul Oakenfold ‘Cinematic’ Remix) ENDSON

so which one is being released now? the sad(regular cure) one or the happy one?
Excellent! I really hope it’s good, I haven’t been massively on board since Bloodflowers
About time. They were originally due to release the follow-up to 4:13 Dream in 2009, which was to be a darker companion piece to the latter, but obviously it's been about 12 years late by now. Interestingly when I saw them live in 2019 they didn't play any songs later than 2000 despite a nearly 3 hour set (ignoring everything from 4:13 Dream and their self-titled 2004 album), so I imagine this will be the first time hearing a lot of the songs to be released.

Robert Smith confirmed at last night's NME Awards that the new album is titled 'Songs Of A Lost World'! Here's what he said to say about it:

“So I’ve been working on two Cure albums, and one of them is finished,” Smith told NME. “Unfortunately, it’s the second one that’s finished. [On the other]I’ve got to do four vocals, and there are 10 songs on each album. We’re mixing next month on April 1, so I’ve got three weeks left.”

He continued: “I know what it’s called – it’s called ‘Songs Of A Lost World’. It’s got artwork, it’s got a running order, it’s almost done! They’re so slow because of vinyl, but it might come in September. I’d rather it just came out. I can’t stand the anticipation.”

Asked about the sound of the upcoming records, Smith revealed: “Well the first Cure album is relentless doom and gloom. It’s the doomiest thing that we’ve ever done. The second one is upbeat, and my [solo] one won’t be out until next year.

“I have to keep revisiting it. It’s a thing I’ve wanted to do for so many years. I realise I’ve only got one shot at doing it, so I’ve now started to add real instruments and acoustic instruments, whereas this time two years ago it was literally just feedback – but I’ve kind of grown a bit disenchanted with it. I’d listened to it like three times and I think it’s rubbish.”

I haven’t really listened to a Cure album as a body of work just discovering the singles on the old TOTP episodes and I’ve totally become obsessed so I will be hugely excited to hear new material from them. Especially if there’s two potentially on the way 😍

let's see if it's true this time or if it gets delayed a couple years again

last album I really liked was Bloodflowers in 00

That's nothing, the last album I really liked was Pornography, but I will concede they did some great pop singles between then and 1990 and I do quite like some of The Head on The Door

Im the opposite I don't like early 80s The Cure

My favourite era is Wish, perfect album from start to finish and so many incredible album tracks (Trust, Apart, To wish impossible things,...)

the rest of albums are ok, with many highlights but always tracks that drag or I don't care
