Electric Chapel is charming but not a song I would individually return to, without the album context.

My stance too! Sounds good in the album but not one I return to outside of that and one that I could skip when shuffling Gaga's back catalogue.

Missing out on the top 10, we have the final bonus track of the countdown. Gaga stated that this was her favourite bonus track on the album and it seems like you guys agree with her. It is a song about Gaga's move to the big city and how she was immersed in a different life when doing this; Black Jesus represents this new change and way of life/thinking.

ONE of these days I will find more diehard 'Electric Chapel' stans, what a song!

I'm here!! I love it! :cheer:

We kick off the top 10 with a single - the first to be revealed in this countdown. The song was performed live a few times before the album was released and it garnered a following through that as Gaga announced it was on the album. The song is about Gaga's relationship with Lüc Carl and was written "out of the deepest most pure, happiest place in my heart". It was released as the fourth single from the album, having already proving to be popular with fans as the album was released and it shot up iTunes. The artwork for the song and some live performances of it featured Gaga's alter ego Jo Calderone.

This still sounds great after all of these years and I love how different it is to most of herb ack catalogue, particularly at the time. There were many other songs I'd have chosen as a single over it, but it was nice to get a change of pace!!

The title track is out in 9th place :o The averages are getting very respectable and the quality is high so any low score has had a huge impact on results. The title track and lead single has had a phenomenal success and impact for Gaga - it was the 1000th #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the 20th song to debut at #1, the only #1 to include the word "transgender" in it, the most downloaded song of all time for a while after its release and so much more. It went on to shape a generation of people that found acceptance in its message and it set out the tone, theme and vibe of the album expertly as Gaga took shared her manifesto of love and equality.

Expected a bit higher for this but the average is about right so I guess it's just the other songs outperforming expectations?

What a mammoth, game-changing song for her career! The hype around its release and the impact it has had knows no bounds.

Too low!!! I loved it, went off it, then liked it more than I ever did at the time. An out and out celebration of all life

I won't give up on my life

The fifth single from the album and its opening track. For many fans one of her greatest singles (and music videos) - for Buzzjack, it is the 8th best on the album. Described by Gaga as her first hit record created by her and Fernando Garibay, it was likened to the musical love child of Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen. Originally planned as the lead single for the album, it instead ended the campaign, adding further fuel to the fire of acceptance, self-belief, identity and pride. Lyrically it tells of Gaga's darkest moments, battling for her life, overdosing, being dropped by her record label - and universally it sings to all about fighting through the darkness and embracing it. Marrying the night becomes a metaphor for turning pain and sadness into something cathartic and beautiful and liberating. A masterpiece of a song.

I am genuinely quite upset about this  I know that's an overreaction, but this song is perfection for me. It's her 2nd best single (and 3rd best song overall) for me. It means SO MUCH to Gaga and to her fans through its message and sheer euphoric nature. It opens the album in EXPLOSIVE fashion and sets the tone EXPERTLY. I have nothing but love for this absolute powerhouse and masterpiece of a song.

It coming 8th, I guess, shows just how strong the era is for us here.

I am trying so hard to bite my tongue and not leave the forum forever.

Only love.

Me listening to the song every single damn time.

Wtf at Born This Way being so low :o :o

Also MTN, but not that surprised perhaps? But the new Kylie version should have given a boost, if had been released when this rate was on.
