Don't leave me where I lay down

| 12. Don't Tell Me 8.80

Sticking with the Music era here, and the single that followed the one that dropped out last in the rate, we have Don't Tell Me. The album's second single is a statement breaking away from being controlled in a relationship. It features vocals from her brother-in-law Joe Henry, and is a country-dance song. The video features Madonna walking on a treadmill in front of a projection screen complete with dancing cowboys, horses and vast deserts - it continued the cowboy aesthetics of the former track and the album artwork. The video received two nominations at the 2001 VMAs, while also being nominated for a Grammy Award. The song was yet another commercial and radio hit across the globe and has matured over time into a fan favourite - here, it has been ranked as the best song from the era!

Madonna song Don't tell Me is just fantastic. Wow. I love it.
That's top 5 tier for me, definitely one of my all time faves. Shame it missed the top 10 here but it's still done very well, good that it (just about) managed to get favourite single from the Music era.

You're so close but still a world away

| 11. Crazy For You 9.00

Crazy For You is the unlucky 11th place finisher, narrowly missing out on the top 10! It has a perfect 9 score and even that wasn't enough to get it to the top 10. Recorded for the film Vision Quest, the song is a ballad and this marked a contrast to material she had released previously. After much doubt about its release and the fact it could deter away from the focus of her Like a Virgin album, it was given a push. It went on to be a Grammy award nominated song, peak at #1 in the US and be released twice in the UK! A very important song for Madonna and her career, it became accepted by AC radios in the US and extended her reach of listeners further. Over time, it has remained one of Madonna's most loved ballads and has continued to connect with lovers since.

love Crazy for You

it's absolutely incredible how the song was released twice in the UK and both times it peaked at #2

'Don't Tell Me' is probably one of my favourite produced songs ever? The strings, the Mirwais electronic beat, the outro — incredible.
I really like Crazy For You but it's a totally different vibe compared to anything else of hers that I love. It's more of an 80s playlist kinda track, I don't really include it among my Madonna playlists.

Crazy For You is my fav ever song 😍

Shame it just missed the top 10 !!

| 10. La Isla Bonita 9.04

The first song in the all-important top 10 is La Isla Bonita. Released as the fifth and final single from the True Blue album, the song was first offered to Michael Jackson before Madonna agreed to work on it. The song acts as a tribute to the beauty of the Latinos and features Cuban and Spanish influences and instrumentation. Despite being the 5th single, it went on to be a huge success, peaking at #1 in the US and top 5 around the world. One of her most beloved music videos (it remains her most watched on Youtube), it features Madonna as a passionate Latino-inspired woman. The song pays tribute to music that Madonna had always loved and grew up listening to and being immersed in. It's a song of freedom and escapism and still sounds as scorching hot today as it did all those years ago.

Was not expecting this to be first out in top 10!
