Give it to Me is such a amazing song. I really love listen to.

Has Give It 2 Me left? I didn’t notice but that’s a shame I really enjoy that one!

'Give It 2 Me' definitely isn't out yet!

No highlights for me from the last set. I don't really give 'Gambler' much of my time though with it being so absent from her albums/streaming oops. GMAYL is very cringe and has aged even more badly! 'Everybody' is cute and the introduction to her but it's certainlty not a favourite.

I was such a Madonna Stan back in the day as a kid that I bought the Vision Quest soundtrack on vinyl

to have Crazy for You and Gambler :D

Don't forget that your family is gold

| 68. Keep It Together 6.48

| 69. Dear Jessie 6.27 (more 10s)

| 70. This Used to Be My Playground 6.27

The theme tune to A League of Their Own, starring Madonna herself, This Used to Be My Playground wasn't featured on the soundtrack due to copyright reasons but it was later added to the ballads collection, Something to Remember. Using a string arrangement, piano, organs and drums, it's a delicate song with subdued vocals. It talks of not being able to let go of the past and reminiscing about one's childhood. We then lose two tracks from Like A Prayer! The first, Dear Jessie was the fifth single from the album and was inspired by producer Patrick Leonard's daughter, Jessie. A lullaby of sorts, it also features an animated, childish/cartoony music video. Finally, Keep It Together is out, and was also the single that followed Dear Jessie's release! The final single from the era, it tells of Madonna missing her family, particularly in the aftermath of her divorce from Sean Penn. She explores the importance of her family to her and interestingly all three songs here share the theme of childhood and family!

I love that all songs here share a common theme of childhood + family!

I am quite shocked and confused as to why I gave 'This Used to Be My Playground' such a low score - i'd rate it a lot higher after listening through it just now :drama: It would have meant it would've beaten 'Dear Jessie' The latter is now probably my least favourite from this set! However the Like A Prayer era ended on a high with the release of 'Keep It Together' which is fabulous!

'This Used to Be My Playground' is an odd one. Sometimes I find it too long and dreary, other times I find it a really bittersweet song about growing up and moving on.

'Dear Jessie' is sweet and a great companion piece to 'Oh Father'. 'Keep It Together' has grown a lot on me, particularly after watching it as the finale to the Blond Ambition Tour. The 12-inch remix is particularly good:

Not too surprising for any of those three. Keep it Together is average for me, I liked it more back when the album was out but I was baffled as to why they would consider it for a single.

I do like Dear Jessie. Like Liam says, it's a lovely pairing with Oh Father on the album and it's unlike anything else she has recorded so I like that it's pretty unique. It was also the first song of hers that I loved, it appealed to me so much as a child.

This Used to be My Playground is lovely, I remember being pleasantly surprised by how well it did back when it was released. It feels very lost in her discography these days though so I'm not surprised it hasn't finished too highly.

Playground hit number 1 in the states!!! I still find this surprising.

Love DJ

those 3 I like but don't love

and my appreciation for them has kinda fluctuated, I don't mind Dear Jessie now but back in the day I couldn't understand why it was chosen over Oh Father in the UK

This Used To Be My Playground is SOOOO boring. It goes on for far too long and is dreary. I always wonder how many more verses I'm going to have to listen to before it finally ends.

Dear Jessie is nice, but never single material.

I absolutely love Keep It Together and wish it had a UK release. If the UK had followed the US for singles from Like A Prayer, that would have been great.

Other faces seem like nothing next to you

| 65. Levitating [The Blessed Madonna remix] (with Dua Lipa & Missy Elliott) 6.69 (second most 10s)

| 66. Angel 6.69

| 67. Love Profusion 6.56

The fourth and final single from American Life, Love Profusion drops out first in this set. The song is dedicated to Madonna's then husband, Guy Ritchie and uses a stuttering vocal alongside a male in the chorus to create a distorted effect, reflecting her confusion of American culture at the time. Following on from this, we have a three-way tie! Coming at the bottom of the trio is Angel taken from Madonna's second album. The song was one of the first developed for the album and it was eventually released as its third single. Madonna states that the song is about a girl who is saved by an "angel" and goes on to fall in love with him. Gaining more 10s than Angel, is Levitating [The Blessed Madonna remix] which is taken from the remix album of Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia. After crafting the remix, Dua emailed both Madonna and Missy who agreed to add vocals to the song. Lipa's parent album was heavily inspired by Madonna's Confessions On A Dancefloor album and so the fit seemed natural.

I am really saddened that 'Love Profusion' is out this early :( It's the first song in this countdown that I really hoped did much better. I know it's not the most favoured on here, but below a Dua Lipa remix, I don't think! 'Angel' is cute enough and then can't say I've returned to the 'Levitating' remix much at all so happy it's out.

Just a thought, would it be possible to keep editing the first post and crossing the song that are out

so that we know whats left?

First two posts have been updated - songs that are out have been crossed off and the results so far will be updated in the second post! ^_^

I don't mind Love Profusion, I think part of the problem is that it comes smack bang in the middle of a golden period for her that it seems worse by comparison to the other songs around it in the rate.

Angel is cute.

Love Profusion is one of my least fav M tracks. I would never have chosen it as a single.

Nothing Fails would have been a hit in the UK , it deserved a video!

It's one of my favourite video of Madonna would have to be Love Profusion. It's really amazing.
I’m a big fan of both Love Profusion AND angel so this is the first round where I’ve seen some favs go!

I really like 'Love Profusion' but it wasn't single material, definitely not when 'Nothing Fails' was there. Just reading a bit more into it, it appears a music video was planned for 'Nothing Fails', set to have a Kabbalah theme and be filmed in Israel, however the record company refused out of fear of Madonna's safety. I'm guessing had this gone ahead, there would have been a worldwide release and 'Love Profusion' probably wouldn't have been.

'Angel' is very sweet and another single with a cancelled video - this time I think because of there being too many Madonna videos in rotation.

I was expecting worse for the 'Levitating' remix tbh given its criticism when it premiered. As much as I would have loved Madonna to feature on the original production, I do really love The Blessed Madonna's remix and still listen to it now. Madonna's vocal was so much better than I was dreading too, ha!
