February 17, 20223 yr The champions league needs a result like that! Bayern will do them in the home leg though. I think if they come up against Man City/Liverpool though, they will get comfortably beaten.
February 22, 20223 yr Champions League holders Chelsea could be without Mason Mount from their starting XI again when they face Lille in the last 16 on Tuesday. The Blues forward is back in training after injuring his ankle at the Club World Cup but the match with the French champions may come too soon. Defender Cesar Azpilicueta (groin) should be available. Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) is unlikely to feature, while Reece James and Ben Chilwell are still out.
February 22, 20223 yr Uefa is almost certain to switch this season's Champions League final away from St Petersburg amid the Ukraine-Russia crisis. Russia has sent troops into two rebel-held regions of eastern Ukraine and there are fears an invasion is planned. Several countries, including the UK, are expected to introduce sanctions against Russia in response to the move. And against that backdrop, Uefa is viewed as being highly unlikely to attempt to host the game in Russia.
February 22, 20223 yr Third season in a row the final has had to move at short notice! Sign of the times eh.
February 22, 20223 yr They'll probably move the final to Portugal again if doesn't take place in St Petersburg. Would this have been the 2nd final in Russia? I can only think of the 2008 final that happened in Moscow.

February 23, 20223 yr Yes this would have been the 2nd final to be played in Russia. It could have been a good omen for the English teams for another final to be held in Russia after the previous one was an all English final. 1-1 away to Atletico is a good result for Man United but the performance wasn't good, especially in the first half. They hit the woodwork at least twice in the match as well so we're quite lucky to take this result into the home leg. Now that away goals have been scrapped it's a level playing field, whoever wins at Old Trafford on the night will go through. I suspect penalty shoot-outs will become a much more common occurrence in knockout 2nd leg matches from now on across the competition. One of the semi finals could even be decided by penalties which I think has only happened once between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in 2012. Edit: I just remembered Liverpool Vs Chelsea was decided on penalties in 2007 Edited February 23, 20223 yr by Houdini

Edit: I just remembered Liverpool Vs Chelsea was decided on penalties in 2007 Good result at a hostile stadium. Athletico will still be dangerous, but you'd back yourselves to beat them over 120 minutes. If both teams go through, there's a likely chance that City could play Liverpool/Chelsea which opens up the competition massively, so I guess most people will be praying for that match up. I agree there is likely to be more penalty shootouts, but I think no away goals favours the better teams.
February 24, 20223 yr So pleased for Elanga, he hasn't always shown such good composure in similar positions previously so to take the shot in such a massive game was mega for him! The match was a difficult watch mostly but that was always gonna be the case, they are the Champions of Spain for a reason.
February 24, 20223 yr Great moment for Elanga especially after that abuse he got after his penalty miss in the FA Cup fourth-round against Middlesbrough.
February 24, 20223 yr Uefa will hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss whether it should move the 2022 Champions League final away from Russian city St Petersburg.

The match was a difficult watch mostly but that was always gonna be the case, they are the Champions of Spain for a reason. Yeh I think a Simeone vs Ralph game was always going to be a battle of wills which wouldn’t be easy on the eye. All to play for in the next leg but United probably favourites due to being at home. As I’ve said before there’s no reason why United or any team can win the champions league this season once you get to the Q-Finals!
February 25, 20223 yr The 2022 Champions League final will be played in Paris after Russia was stripped of the match following the nation's invasion of Ukraine.
March 9, 20223 yr A dramatic turnaround in the Real Madrid v PSG tie. After levelling the tie at 2-2, Real scored within 12 seconds of PSG restarting to go ahead on aggregate.
March 9, 20223 yr It was a dramatic turnaround for Real Madrid and Benzema got a hat trick. Real Madrid dominated the 2nd half and could have scored more, Donnarumma made a terrible blunder which led to Benzema's 1st goal. Another season of underachievement for PSG in the Champions League, to think that I had them down as favourites at the start of the season. They're like the French version of Manchester City here, the boy who cried wolf.
March 10, 20223 yr That Modric run for the 2nd goal - wow. Happy PSG are out, not only is it funny, I think they were the one team in the competition that is slightly unpredictable, as in they dominated Madrid today for example, but just lost their teams completely. That 3rd goal was absolutely criminal play from them.
March 15, 20223 yr Tonight has confirmed what I've known for months, that our season is over. We were never going to win this competition this season anyway. One day we will win it again though even if it's very far into the future from now. I'll witness it if I'm still alive by then lol. As for this season as much as I hate to say it it's looking very much like an English team will win it again. 99.9 per cent that at least one English team will make the final as a minimum.
March 15, 20223 yr Utd just got full Athletico'd tonight, didn't think Athletico were anything special but a weak as anything defence and Ronaldo couldn't pull a rabbit out of the hat. Some truly terrible bench options too, which isn't good when you're needing to change the game. As you rightly say Houdini, no chance Utd would get past the QFs and I think Athletico will struggle against any team (including Benfica).
March 15, 20223 yr Author You can’t let Athleti take the lead against you it’s simple as that. They are a hateful team and manager though.
