Biography

Leeds, U.K.-based vocalist Tom Zanetti began his career in the music industry primarily as a club promoter; his breakthrough night, Insomnia, became the most successful night at Leeds nightclub Mission for five consecutive years. Discovering he had a knack for club promotion, he went on to set-up a wider reaching events company called Sleepin Is Cheatin. His brand grew so much that a local television channel filmed a documentary, titled Sic Life, that tracked his daily working life. On the side, Zanetti would lend his vocals to a number of Leeds-based U.K. house producers. Eventually he released a few U.K. house singles under his own name, including "Darlin" and "You Want Me," both produced by friend and past collaborator Chris Lorenzo. - Apple Music

I daresay that, in the grand tradition of Doja's biggest hits ending up being album tracks that got popular organically* over the label-anointed singles, 'Ain't Shit' may end up being a bigger hit in the long run than 'You Right'.

*give or take TikTok astroturfing and of course later label involvement with dodgy remixes

Unpopular opinion but all of billie’s music are just boring snoozefests. My favourite song by her is ‘therefore I am’ and even that is a 7/10 for me. This is a 2/10 if you’re lucky, not a fan at all.

YES! I wholeheartedly agree.

Love the way Tom Zanetti has to remind us that Leeds is up North!
Billie's completely lost me this era, Therefore I Am is the only one I've cared for. This is better than the last couple I guess?

Wouldn't be surprised if 'No Time To Die' will appear back in the charts pretty soon

Biography

When you consider Neil Diamond’s legacy, you have to specify which Neil Diamond you’re talking about: The professional songwriter who’s penned standards for countless artists? The exemplar of ultra-personal singer-songwriter fare? The glitzy entertainer behind anthems like “Cracklin’ Rosie” and “America”? Born in 1941 and raised in Brooklyn by Jewish immigrant parents who ran a clothing shop, Diamond first made his name as a Brill Building tunesmith (alongside folks like Carole King and Gerry Goffin), providing The Monkees with a jangle-pop gem worthy of their Fab Four forebears: 1966’s “I’m a Believer.” At the same time, his own solo albums teemed with soulful sing-alongs that proved adaptable to any genre: “Kentucky Woman” got rocked up into a breakthrough hit for Deep Purple, while UB40 famously gave “Red Red Wine” a reggae makeover in 1983. (And, of course, there’s not a karaoke bar in the world that hasn’t worn out its backing track of “Sweet Caroline.”) But Diamond’s swinging-’60s pop was undercut by disarming ruminations on loneliness, like “Solitary Man.” And in the ’70s, he reinvented himself as a denim-suited Sinatra on the lavish live set Hot August Night, while ascending to adult-contemporary sainthood with the strings-sweetened Streisand duet “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” But a pair of intimate, Rick Rubin-produced albums in the mid-2000s remind us that behind the big-stage spectacle is an artist who’s always seeking to communicate heartfelt emotions in the simplest terms. - Apple Music

How is she pretentious?

I think she's high art and it's great. Some people think that's pretentious. I think there's room for that as well as more mainstream fodder like the Joel Corrys and Ed Sheerans too!

Neil Diamond on the official chart in 2021, who would have thought!!

NDA the best of a poor bunch of singles for Billie this era, needless to say its charted in the lowest position due to what it was following.

I don't remember why Sweet Caroline was top 70 in 2008.
A peak of 8 originally for 'Sweet Caroline' isnt exactly stellar, has grown with age obviously!
First time in the Top 20 for Neil Diamond for 41 years :) Is that a record gap?
Well I suppose it's even more fitting for Sweet Caroline to reenter on the 50th anniversary of its original run (well, this year anyway)!
