And Persephonia is safely through as ‘Moon Glider’ becomes the 24th announced qualifier.

~

To help those keeping track, so far that’s 10 qualifiers announced from Semi Final H and 14 qualifiers announced from Semi Final Z. 6 NQs have been announced from H, and 4 from Z.

However, the horses have bolted and must be caught

We’re about to focus on finishing up Semi Final H next. There will be a few Z entries in the next section but the majority are from H.

Greenfroze is out, Todrick couldn’t muster up the midtable (right?) support he got in PFSC, and finishes 24th in Semi Final H with 32 points.

7th actually :o It's a fun song but oh well queer pop (except hyperpop) doesn't seem to be doing really well lately on BJSC

Heart attack averted!

Thank you for not letting me down semi 2, despite getting a couple of DNQ predictions and a somewhat middling reception on SyncTube I did deep down think this should be a qualifier based on who was in the semi and would have been pretty disappointed if it went out x (most of my DNQs are songs that I don't get that feeling for, MIRÈLE probably the only recent exception).

Also Orphic Oxtra remains my only instrumental entry to DNQ!

Steins;Gate, Durarara and Beastars

Three shows that I’ve put together largely because their vibe is more that of a modern TV show, arc-based plots and all that, with few (but not entirely absent) anime tropes.

For Steins;Gate we have AQ FARC, who take Rintarou Okabe, who in one very memorable scene refers to himself as a ‘mad scientist’ in Engrish, mad scientist, mad circuit, is close enough. Mosquetania get Makise Kurisu, a scientific genius that Okabe is working with time travel on, ‘better tomorrow’, you see.

Durarara, set in the streets of Tokyo, has the main character and mysterious black rider Celty Sturlson assigned to Terra Avium, while Beastars, in animal predator vs prey glory has Fljótavík repped by Suigyuu (lit. Water Buffalo), a side character – anime needs more buffalo representation!!

FARC is of course qualified and is only included here for completeness. We’re getting at least one qualifier and one NQ out of this, is one through or two?

And finally, Aquafina…. did make it through, congratulations Lee, Ewan McVicar is safe!

:cheeseblock:

Celty Sturlson reminds me of Daft Punk ngl

Feels like Terra Avium has the highest chance here

FARC is our autoqualifier of course, this is obvious.

Unfortunately for Mosquetania, they couldn’t join their series partner in the final and finish outside, 22nd in Semi Final Z with 40 points.

I'd ideally like for both Richard and Kathleen to make it through but that seems incredibly unlikely

Terra Avium is through! Richard Hawley is taking his streets to the final, but unfortunately we have to say goodbye to Fljótavík and Kathleen Edwards, who finished 27th in Semi Final Z with 24 points.

Ghost In The Shell & Cowboy Bebop

Two retro shows/films now, I chose the Major from anime movie classic Ghost In The Shell for Republic Of Adonia because of the similar looking scenes in the video for ‘Chaeri’, might even have been inspired by them(?), while I chose Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV for Skall because Cowboy Bebop is set in space and she is the youngest member of that crew – ‘Space Cadet’.

Are both through? Or one? Or neither?

There haven't really been any real 'surprise' DNQs but Mosquetania is probably the closest we've had to one, thought that was a very solid pop song that would have a reliable audience.

Bah at FLJ being out, I did think that was probably a longshot but sad as it was a genuinely really good discovery for me (3rd in my semi-final 1 ranking).

High School DxD

On second thoughts, let’s not talk about High School DxD much (*proceeds to talk about it*). While I like the characters I’ve chosen and that’s why I’ve used them (I only used characters I like), they’re good characters in a mediocre show that, well, there’s a reason why I assigned the two songs with rude words in their titles to them. Rias Gremory, devil overlord and student council president, for Aesthetica, who has an… interesting relationship with the main character, and Akeno Himejima, whose body might as well be screaming Zaminton’s song title. It’s rated R+ for mild nudity, but, yeah.

This is that side of anime. WHICH IS FAR LESS PREVALENT THAN THE NON-SEXUAL SIDE thanks for nothing Legend Of The Overfiend (google at your own risk). Anime fans would find it amusing both ended up in Semi-Final H. H is however very much for horses and none of that other stuff.

Again, are both through, are both not through, or is it one each? Aesthetica did have a 15% deduction, while Zaminton have a 33% deduction.

Another 2 of the highlights from the semi *.* (edit: @ Skall and Republic of Adonia that is x)

Richard Hawley yesss, didn't expect that one - thank god for my votes!

Mosquetania's is a strange non qualifier, sounds like a pretty wide appealing track to me
