Absolutely! I do like LM and most of their songs a lot, but music wise (for me) they don't come anywhere near SG, GA, Sugababes. However, performance wise they are MILES ahead of all the afore mentioned groups. Vocal wise I'd argue they are on the same level as Sugababes 1.0 (with a slight preference for Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan's harmonies).

No one’s ever gonna top Mutya / Keisha / Siobhan’s live version of No Regrets. Those voices blend like perfection. “I don’t wanna feel like I’m Heidi.”

No regrets??? The Robbie song?

It just goes to show that having the most perfect vocals doesn’t make a girl band click with the public through I mean the second version of the group clicked (I think because the material was better but that’s just my opinion), then no girl band had ever touched the spice girls in commercial success.

Pa those little mix wax works look amazing!! I never got why Madame Tussaud’s didn’t do the Brits version of the Spice’s and with all 5 of them?

No, they have a song of their own called No Regrets:

Either way, the issue with MKS at the time of Flatline was multiple - their biggest champion that signed them to Polydor had left, they didn't have the rights to the Sugababes name, Radio One didn't support them (and a lot seemed to hinge on that) and they were still in that awkward position where they were still considered too young for Radio 2. Hopefully they'll be able to get on Radio 2 with any new material they release and eventually release an album off the back of it.

I don't think it's down to the public not responding well to the line up itself tbh - Sugababes as a brand was left in tatters with 4.0. They'll basically have to build themselves back up and will obviously never experience selling 900k+ albums again either way (because no one besides Adele sells that amount anymore). Their Sacred Three tour was well-recieved though, especially considering they couldn't market themselves as Sugababes.

Didn't they also do something ridiculous like midweek release 'Flatline' which harmed it even further?

But yeah, I sadly knew it was doomed when it became apparent Radio 1 wouldn't playlist them.

Indeed, Flatline was released on Friday (during a time when singles were released on a Sunday) and also got a quite messy release situation with the date changing three times.

Love these girls. Harmonies and talent like this are so rare... Just look how they blend so well with each other, each note absolutely perfect. Plus the song is amazing

I'm thinking that this thread has gone as far as it needs to now!

The reason I created this thread is because the "Spice Girls vs. other girl groups" discussion was quite off topic where it originally was taking place, so I wanted to separate it. Now that the chat is veering away from talking about girl groups in the context of Spice Girls, and more just talking about girl groups in general, I don't think we need the thread anymore.

To continue the girl group chats, remember to check out these forums: Girls Aloud & Sugababes + visit the Pop forum which has threads for the likes of Atomic Kitten, All Saints and The Saturdays.
