Elton’s first solo No 1 also proves his most popular of the decade on Buzzjack

The Fly U2 (Voter: Jim Watts- 24 points, Colm- 30 points, Dircadirca- 21 points)- #1 for 1 week in November 1991

We’re forever indebted as it knocked Bryan Adams from the top, it’s also Colm’s favourite chart topper of the decade as well as Buzzjack's favourite from them!

Always felt 90s U2 was a little more experimental and they really came good again in the noughties! That’s not a criticism though!!

Really love ‘Sacrifice’ now as I’m watching the TOTP episodes it was number one on and also ‘Cold Heart’ being top 5 helps, surprised I didn’t have room for it on my points!!

90s U2 Is best U2. The change between Rattle and Hum and The Fly is one of the great transformations of modern rock music. ....that guitar solo never fails to hit hard. My second favourite number one by anyone ever after Wuthering Heights.

always liked Sacrifice but it sounds to me more like a #13 hit than a 5 week-#1 and the song to resurrect Elton's career

surprised I didn't vote for The Fly could I like it too, Achtung Baby is one of my fav albums ever, especially some non-singles like Love is Blindness or Until the end of the world. After Achtung Baby it all went downhill rapidly for U2 and by the end of the 90s and all thru the 00s they totally lost me... guess it doesn't help that I really cannot stand Bono :D

I thought Zooropa was just as interesting as AB.

Sacrifice has always been my favourite Elton song; amazing to see it reimagined 31 years later.

Nice placing for Gabrielle- I love her though Dreams isn’t my favourite of hers.

I’m not very familiar with The Fly at all actually. Will have to give it some more listens following Colm’s recommendation.

Both Sacrifice and The Fly are great, the latter in particular came very close to making my votes. Agree that Achtung Baby is the best album from U2

So this is Buzzjack’s third favourite chart topper of 1994 as the year becomes the first to have a mere two entries left.

Minor controversy abounded as this became their only No 1

I was expecting Ebeneezer Goode to be top 50 at least. It's absolutely amazing!

I didn't quite vote for the #1 on the day I was born - sorry 'I'll Be Missing You'!

Shocked that I didn't vote for 'Ebeneezer Goode' - it must've been very close.
