Anyway, time for Round 2: Any song from an album which wasn’t pushed as a single

 

Album tracks, essentially. What shall we send?

 

What we had in mind, firstly:

 

Melanie C - Burn

 

Or something from her recent album could work, maybe Melanie C - Good Enough? Any other suggestions?

 

Or do we go with a different member?

 

Victoria - Midnight Fantasy, I Wish & Like That were contemplated. Mel B - Hotter? Geri - Love Never Loved Me?

 

(We’re not aiming to use an Emma track for this round, particularly if we do use Maybe soon. We’re still quite firm in not using Spice Girls group tracks this year.)

We've been going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth on this one. :lol:

 

Out thoughts are that Emma / Melanie C are the most likely to get votes out of the solo girls, but it would also be nice to use the others too... What are the thoughts, there are 5 rounds in this first part, if we got through there are 5 more potential rounds... after Emma's performance neither of us feel hugely confident!

Ps I'm genuinely disgusted by the lack of people voting WTYSL, it was my 4th favourite song there! The lack of taste is huge HUGE!!!

Mel C Lets Love would be my choice, i adore the song/

Oh when it comes to album tracks I do think we should go with group songs.... otherwise we might be clutching at straws here.

Never Give Up On the Good Times if you want something that may secure you a bit safer after finishing bottom half for the 1st round. BUT if 'Burn' is on the cards then PLEASE!!!!!!

Mainly because we sent most of their popular singles in both AF Idol 1.0 and 2.0, and their group discography is so limited, so we thought that it might be more interesting to delve into the solo songs this year (their combined solo catalogue is certainly very expansive). But in terms of success in the contest, it’s clearly not the best tactic, admittedly.

 

It’s apparent that many of the other forums will have no qualms in sending particular songs for the second or third occasions though, so hmm, maybe we could consider some Spice Girls group songs again, Spiceboy 😶 Emma coming 14th with arguably one of the strongest and most successful songs in the solo catalogue doesn’t fill me with much confidence (unless we send completely obvious Melanie C songs like I Turn to You).

Ah yeah that made sense. I understand. I can’t really remember any of the solo album tracks but will for sure listen to the one you put forwards and I’ll probs remember then :)

My vote would be never give up on the good times or If U can’t dance.

 

I think you’d do much better going with a spice girls album track eek

Unfortunately their solo works arent that strong, specially with non-singles.... So I would use a mix of solos (mainly singles) and Spice Girls tracks to make sure we have a variety of options...

 

We can find a few solo shits to throw in should we need it, but please both Overload and Burn will crash out too. They are fan-favourites but they are not amazing songs by any stretch.

 

My hunch would be that Its Raining Men, Maybe and I Turn To You would be the go-to tracks from solo catalogue.

You've got to remember though, R1 was always going to be a BIG round. I think 14th is a lot better than I had anticipated for Emma going up against some absolute monstrous songs. Do you think Solo Spice will fare better when people need to listen to the playlist? (ala Mariah w Prisoner for example)

Yeah, I also know it was a single but was thinking of good solo singles for later rounds.

Strongly considering Never Give Up on the Good Times 🤭 (as mentioned by Tafty and London!). We know this goes totally against our self imposed “let’s go with solo tracks only” ethos :lol: ...but really I don’t think we have a chance of making the Top 12 in this round unless we send what is arguably the most loved Spice Girls album track. (And low key I think even then it could be a 13th/14th place situation for us... Gah! Perhaps I’m being too pessimistic.

 

If Spice Girls could somehow make it to Round 6-10 there could be opportunities to go with a solo album track :thinking:
