March 3, 20223 yr Yeah I'm not really feeling this era as much as the last one bu 'Lonely' is definitely the best of the bunch.
March 3, 20223 yr Author I do think they've all grown on me tbf, especially 'Sick' and 'Again Again'! I'm really liking 'Lonely' too, the line "I did a doodle you used to do..." sounds very pleasurable to the ears for some reason
March 9, 20223 yr After being pushed back months the album has now been pulled forward a week and is out on March 18th - they are obviously moving due to competition to try and get the #1?
March 9, 20223 yr Author Yeah must be I’d say! Though they are up against ArrDee now, he’ll be much easier competition than Michael Buble.

March 18, 20223 yr It’s out - giving it a first listen now. Really interested to see first week sales they have 25+ formats and bundles, most days are doing 2 signings or shows plus have Banquet personally signed - they are really putting the effort in across the country so hopefully it pays off for them

March 20, 20223 yr I don't know how the level of multiformatting compares (this trend always seems to make the sales of indie albums of late feel kind of impossible to predict) but their last album did 8.7k first week and that was less than 2 years ago so 20k seems like a pretty ambitious cutoff for 'disappointment'.

Agree that 20k feels a high amount to be disappointed by as it’s more than double the opening of their debut in a declining market.
September 30, 20222 yr The Amazon exclusive red vinyl is available for the bargain price of £7.85 at the moment - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Homesick-Amazon-Ex...C126&sr=8-1
May 27, 20232 yr Guessing The Sea Girls have parted company with Polydor? The ‘Live At Alexandra Palace’ vinyl arrived today and it’s been released on their own label (also was not sent from the usual place Polydor/Universal orders ship from). I’m not overly surprised if they have, their single success has been non-existent and both albums only spent a week in the charts.
May 27, 20232 yr Author Seems like it! I’m not sure their chart placements are necessarily the reason behind it though. Having a 1-week charting album and certainly no charting singles is the same for most indie bands that don’t get dropped. But even their 1 week sales weren’t particularly great, and as a band they don’t seem to be growing much anymore. So I’m not too surprised really.
May 27, 20232 yr ^^ Yeah, the seemed to stall sales wise quite quickly, the last update for the 1st album sales was 34k and I’d be surprised if the follow up has passed 20k, they can sell out shows quite easily but that’s not translated into big album sales.
May 28, 20232 yr Author Yeah, I think they’re a case of people liking their songs but not necessarily buying into them as a band? And while their debut album’s songs have pretty decent streaming numbers, not one of their currently most popular 10 songs on Spotify is from Homesick.
May 28, 20232 yr Pity as they are a decent band! Hopefully they will be snapped up by an indie where the pressure for big numbers is not as intense as with a major? They certainly have a decent sized fanbase (but maybe not the kind that buy into the 23 different formats/variants that Polydor threw out for the last album!).
