There's also an issue with her video streams again for some reason, so she's missing a few hundred sales from that. I think she would be midweek #16 if it was accounted for - not that that makes a huge difference, but still, it would be slightly less of a drop off.

Even top 20 is great considering she's at 50 on Spotify and around 70 on Amazon.
i am intrigued to see what's next... do we think it's unusual there's not even been a discussion of an album?

She’s mentioned an album in interviews that she’s got a stack of songs ready for the album...

It won’t be coming anytime soon though next year for sure.

Not really since I'm sure they wouldn't risk releasing it in Q4 anyway. Plus if Boyz had flopped they don't have to explain where the album went. I think for now it's probably wiser to take it single-by-single (though that could backfire).

Either way she’s put herself in an impossible place because changing her image will just prove everyone’s point that you can’t just dip in and out of cultures to market music.

But it would also show she has learnt from the controversy if she changes her image.

I really hope she does a BBC live lounge and does a cover of a song to showcase her vocals or releases a ballad at some point.

I've missed hearing her sing ballads.

just been discounted

this is also now #30 hhuk so it’s dropping!

Have they just discounted this on iTunes or have I only just noticed it’s always been reduced?

Nah they only did it this morning

#13 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Chart…

Edited by Mikal

Tbh I think it was a stretch for her, as a new artist (certainly to an American audience), to make a splash in the US Billboard charts in week 1 - even with Nicki in tow. For a start, Jesy would need far greater streaming and airplay support to stand a chance. She's not done any major US promo has she? The press interviews feel like they've been more UK targeted.

The fall out with her and Little Mix obviously carries far more weight in the UK than it would in the US, so I'm also not convinced that that controversy would result in anything beneficial in regards to the US public paying attention to her. From their point of view, maybe they'll see it as Nicki having some beef with a British singer they don't know about. Not something to be very invested in.

Simply throwing the song/video out and relying on Nicki isn't going to cut it there, like it did here (in week 1). Jesy would need to build up a profile and do some major groundwork. I don't really have a huge amount of faith in her cracking the US market.

#18 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Chart…

*13.

I don't know why anyone would expect it to chart when she's unknown in the US and LM barely ever charted there, so I don't think that's a good use of shade if anyone is going to try it. She's got a Top 5 in her target market, the UK which is great.

I agree with Jay, she would have needed a lot more than just Nicki on the collaboration to make any appearance on the chart. I think its hard for a lot of artists to make it in the US, she'd need to get lucky and really good collabs.
