What's Pete Waterman going on about?

old white man who is out of touch and just compares current acts to older acts who failed doing the same thing they're doing

(saying that there's a bunch of infighting and that Jesy leaving was the first crack even though he didn't acknowledge Jesy's reasoning and how Little Mix have literally found more success in 2021 than they had in 2019/2020 and then comparing them to groups such as Spice Girls + Girls Aloud who were ruled by egos and wanted to go solo/were catty)

Lmao. Talking out his arse.

"Jesy leaving spells the end"

Since Jesy left:

- UK #1 single

- 3 further top 10's (potentially a 4th at some point)

- 10 year anniversary

- Announcement of a greatest hits

And she's not even been gone for a year yet....

Also don't get me started on the "tHe gIrLs aRe fIgHtInG" crap... A- so what if they are and B- I highly doubt it when 2 have just given birth and they've all been showing nothing but love to each other! 🥲

Think I saw something about them "thinking that they're bigger than music" or something? LMAOOOO. 3 of the most humble and confident women in the business.

White old men doing white old men shit I guess.

I personally really liked Jade's parts tbh!

Song has grown on me massively, however still low middle tier of their singles.

Not top 50 on Spotify.

Kiss My is just holding on and that was around 23?

I'm guessing it's not done well at all streams wise (compared to other releases)

I saw a thread where it was being discussed and was shocked at the laziness and blanket statements commenters were making. I ran away cos I couldn't deal with the insanity.

Anyway, I knew Drake would be massive, but I didn't expect him to occupy 21 out of the top 24 spots on Spotify!

debuted at #64 in the UK Spotify

even without drake it would have been a 43 debut which is really not good.

That is actually shocking but it’s because of the song.

Outside the fanbase it’s just not something the public will like.

A lot of us said it would do poorly on streaming when we first heard it, whilst our opinions have changed it’s true it’s just not a streaming friendly song - The Length does it not favours either.

Let’s all check back here in a few weeks when it’s been added to relevant playlists to then see if it’s going to work with the streaming public.

It’s not on any major playlist and was majorly impacted by Drake’s álbum which most people would have spent their effort listening to.

We know they’re not instant with streaming - I think this will be a slow burner.

I agree. It's such a strong weekend. Even ABBA is doing really well with streaming - a number of their old tracks are even charting on Spotify now. I wasn't expecting much from JLS but their debut of #185 is also telling.

Will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I love LSL, and I love the music video the more I watch it!

It’s because it’s too soon! HA still has life and is such a big hit and Kiss My has just peaked so is getting streamed too. 6 singles in 9 months is ridiculous and it will impact this release

Confetti, HA, Kiss My, LSL. Or are you including SM and NTFT? Those were released last year..

I get what you mean regardless

Sweet Melody and No Time For Tears peaked in January.

Look since 2020 started they’ve had Break Up Song and Holiday which were hits, then The Search (on BBC One for a month), No Time for Tears and Sweet Melody, Jesy leaving (and being a huge media story), then there was the Brit Awards win, Confetti, Heartbreak Anthem, Kiss My and two members giving birth (again big news stories) and a few weeks later there’s a new single out again.

They’re adored by the public but it’s definitely overkill. They could have done without the Anne-Marie collab and would have benefited from more time after Heartbreak Anthem as well.

They haven’t given people a chance to miss them and crave new music because they’ve been EVERYWHERE for a year.

Tbh I think if the song had solid support from the start it would’ve had a better debut. I don’t rly think overexposure is a thing anymore and I think at that point in their career they had to keep going, they def felt like they had something to prove after Jesy left and I genuinely think they wanted go keep releasing, especially with the pregnancies

I agree that overexposure is not a thing now.

We have peeps like Ariana, Ed, Drake, Justin have songs every month at times and (most) people aren’t fed up of them.

I know those peeps are huge so not exactly the same, but LM aren’t a small act.

Break Up Song was a really gorgy hun, but it didn't do as well as one would expect, seeing as they hadn't really released a major single for several months prior. I know the video issue contributed, but still number 9 isn't good enough for the quality of that song (to me).

That said, one could argue that they're capitalising on their being everywhere to make as much as possible out of it.

Remember that artists haven't really been touring; so part of me also thinks that this is all also to keep the cash coming, if they can't tour as much as they would ordinarily.

As stated above, it's still day 1, so might be too early to tell. Most songs that will do well will do well regardless. Ed Sheeran released a lot of singles between 2019 and early 2020 from his no 6 collab project and features, and most of them did very well. I know they're not Ed, but it puts things in perspective.

I agree that overexposure is not a thing now.

"boyfriend" said otherwise.

Sounds like the classic Buzzjack "it didn't do too well on its first day so it's a flop" :D

#64 on Spotify or #43 adjusted for Drake on its first day isn't 'shocking' if you ask me.
