Interesting that the UK media has absolutely nothing to say about last night’s episode. There isn’t one article that I can find, so far. There is one from Australia: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/sp...98061577fde8db8

Disappointing, but maybe not surprising. The show essentially exposed exactly what newspapers and TV behaved like towards famous women, 20 years ago… so it seems they’re going to turn a blind eye and hope that not bringing further attention to it is wise for them. Meh.

Just strikes me as funny that this is probably the one time the media has decided that it’s best not to write about the Spice Girls.

I’ve had a little rant on Insta stories about this ☺️ You inspired me, Jay

The press know it would open a can of worms and the rags who printed such awful stories are afraid to even address it now. The episode last night in ways ties in alot with what rebecca fergusson has been saying in the last year not just about x factor but the music industry in general and the way artists especially women are treated.

Extremely well said!!

And yes Rebecca Ferguson is sadly living proof that the treatment of female artists in the music industry, even a decade or two after the Spice Girls’ hey day, is still very much a problem. :(

Spice Girls fans should make as much noise about it on social media as possible. I'm slightly miffed some other artists haven't come out to support the girls and condemn the media over it.
Pain Proof hits hard after watching the second episode of the documentary.

They haven't, but they don't tend to acknowledge anything unofficial. Would be interesting to know if any of them have watched it though. I at least recall that some of them watched 2001's Raw Spice documentary.
They are all aware of it and we're offered to be part of it but declined. I think that was the right choice as it comes across as being less biased and more like an investigate documentary without them being involved.

This is going to be my favorite documentary about the girls.

It’s sad what they had to go through.

By the way, not Geri throwing shade at Emma saying that was a cover. Girl, at least Emma sang live 😂

They all had something to say about each other (minus Emma, she avoided any conflict) at that time. I guess the media really succeeded to put them against each other. So sad.

I can’t remember what she said but Emma certainly had a few words for Geri.

They all had. Melanie C was the most outspoken, she was also the one that showed support. There are a few interviews out there where she’s excited about Mel B and Emma solo efforts, and she said she got Schizophonic and loved Mi Chico Latino. Emma was a bit more diplomatic. Geri never diss nor praised any of the girls solo records and Forever. I actually think that silence was worse, she deliberately avoided any Spice related question at that time.

But it’s past, who cares. What’s sad is to see how the UK media is misogynistic, racist, classist, and sick. Poor girls and their families.

When you consider just how painful Geri leaving must have been on a friendship and business level they were really incredibly tame bar a few catty comments to each other. I can just imagine how much of a nightmare it was untangling Geri from all those contracts and agreeing a settlement for her leaving. The lawyers must have worked 24/7 for days.

The 2nd episode definitely got more buzz and social media reaction which has probably lead to more people wanting to check it out

Shame we haven't got the ratings for the 2nd episode after bake off.

Out of the Top 20 shows on catch up, the Spice Girls documentary is at #9 on Channel 4's on Demand service, 'All 4' :cheer:

Up 20% on the first episode to 1 million in overnight viewers. We'll get the official total for the first episode next Monday, which includes recordings and catch up viewers.

It's nice that it has seemed like it has been well received!!
