I wonder will the greatest hits make a return to the top 100 this week, it would be nice if it did in tribute to Tom or even if gold forever can manage it aswell.
Greatest Hits is number 9 in the midweeks today. I genuinely didnt expect it to be that high, it will probably drop throughout the week but should stay top 40 at worst. Gold forever is 41 so hopefully can stay top 100. Glad you came is at 87.

Bittersweet to see the album returning up the midweeks. I saw there was a brief tribute to Tom at the Grammy Awards last night?

WOW! The Wanted getting a much bigger impact than what Girls Aloud did on the albums chart.

I’d like to see Gold Forever potentially sneak top 40 in singles as well.

To be fair their album was only released a few weeks ago and they have just done a tour wheres Girls Aloud haven’t done anything in 1 years and their GH albums were as old or older than that. Not really comparable.

Ya I agree,, plus Tom had a lot of tv coverage where Sarah kept out of the limelight that way. I also think from a sales point of view there might be only about a 1k difference when we see the final sales on Friday. This aside, the circumstances of both albums re entering are tremendously sad as 2 very young people died at very young ages from a horrible disease that sadly is part of so many peoples lives. RIP to both Tom and Sarah.

Additionally their debut self-titled album is midweek #73 & “The Wanted EP” is midweek #87. The EP hasn’t previously charted in the UK. It’s essentially a mini Greatest Hits, with it including 8 of their singles. I’m curious about what it’s sales total is!

I wonder if their second and third studio albums will be somewhere in the Top 200?

I never knew the ep was released until I saw it on the chart. I know I tunes sales are low but gold forever has done really well holding onto number 1 as I thought Harry styles would have knocked it off by now, with it still number 1 and 41 yday in the mids I'd love if it could stay top 75.
Comparing the 'boost' of album sales from band members dying from cancer is f***ing gross. Such a stupid observation.

I think this EP was to capitalise on their brief success in the US at the time, to amalgamate all their previous singles in one package for that market. I'm not sure if it had a UK release per se, but is probably now available on a worldwide level and streams are being funneled into it.

The EP was also released on CD in the UK, but it was a very low-key release that they didn’t promote, so it’s kind of curious why their label bothered with it here!

I totally forgot it went Top 10 in the US (#7)!

Had hoped they would stay top 20 but ended up at 22 with just over 3k sales but there debut also re entered at 98 which I didnt expect, Gold forever made it into the top 100 singles at 82.

The midweeks made me curious about OCC's streaming methodology for The Wanted's albums.

Their second and third studio albums didn't show up in the Top 200 midweeks at all, Monday through to Thursday. That's despite the fact that 5 of their Top 10 most popular songs on Spotify are from their third album, 3 are from their second and just 1 is from their first*. Yet their debut album was in the midweeks all week and ended up staying in the Top 100 for the Friday chart.

In fact, on Monday, their iTunes Festival 2011 EP was midweek #197. What is the likelihood of that having better streaming than their second and third albums? Then of course there's the 'The Wanted EP', essentially a mini Greatest Hits that also appeared throughout the midweeks (but didn't end up staying inside the Top 100 on Friday).

* the remaining song is Rule the World from their Greatest Hits.
