Central Cee might be getting his biggest hit with Obsessed With You looking set to be his 2nd top 10 hit. This samples PinkPantheress's 'Just For Me' that only fell out of the top 40 last week. The song is also similarly short in length, running for just 1:51. This will be the lead to mixtape called '23' coming in early 2022.

Just realised the "nostalgia" lyric at the start isn't actually on the PinkPantheress original, I thought it was her singing that. (Makes sense as her music videos are explicitly tapping into the noughties nostalgia vibes).

 

Another random thing that bugs me on this version is it takes the "If you turned around and saw me, I would die" but not the line after that actually rhymes so rhyming die with me just sounds really off.

 

Edit: And now I've found out the word isn't even nostalgia, it's Nastylgia who's a producer so that makes sense now :lol:

New single called 'Retail Therapy' dropping tonight. Full mixtape out on 25th February. The only feature that's been teased so far is Fredo.

 

Cold Shoulder is the latest release from Cench before his mixtape is released at the end of the month. Hopefully this one leaves a bigger impression than Retail Therapy.

 

I liked Retail Therapy, it has nice production especially the clarinet solo. Pity about the drug references but at least the lyrics about women are better than many modern male rap lyrics, just referring to 'needing some female energy'.

 

As for Cold Shoulder, the production sounds very PinkPantheress-esque, not sure if it samples any of her songs.

Really nice flute in the production!

Think 'Khabib' may be becoming my favourite song from him to date, sounded better every time I've listened to it so far! The rest of the singles this era haven't really done too much for me unforch (although not heard 'Straight Back To It' yet), 'Cold Shoulder' is decent as a more introspective song from him but it's not really one that I particularly want to listen back to, 'Obsessed With You' and 'Retail Therapy' were both pretty mid.
