The few dodgy episodes of Friends and Will and Grace "I knew you were likely yo take a wife!! Happy Vegas Versary!!!" etc. Some lines/ episodes really dragged Friends down at times. The WandG reboot had some v bad episodes too.

“Sienfield” isn’t very funny at all, Seinfeld on the other hand is bloody hilarious! :lol:

 

I think it’s silly to say certain shows had bad episodes. I can’t think of a TV show that was perfect from start to finish (even Seinfeld was ropey at the start and ended on a bad note). Fawlty Towers is possibly the closest to being perfect from start to finish, but it only has 12 episodes compared to 180+ episodes.

 

I found Frasier difficult to watch at times - purely because of Frasier and his massive ego.

 

I see what you mean, he can be annoying at times with his snobbery and self-importance. But honestly the situations Frasier and Niles get themselves into is pure hilarity! :lol:

One non-obvious one that does immediately spring to mind for me is Babes in the Wood. It was an ITV sitcom in the late 90s - only ran for a few series but it had Denise Van Outen, Samantha Womack (nee Janus) and the bloke off Brush Strokes / the Flash adverts in the 90s who I can never remember the name of. Canned laughter and really bad jokes about sex / lesbians that probably wouldn't get made today.

 

Also I've never personally got what the appeal is with The Inbetweeners or The Office.

Pretty much any comedy ever aired on CBS or created by Chuck Lorre or featuring a laugh track. Prime examples being King of Queens, Kevin Can Wait, Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men, Anger Management etc.

 

Oh absolutely! I'll add How I Met Your Mother to that list of shame. It's not like Americans cannot do good comedy, there are plenty of great sitcoms out there like Parks and Recreation but guess which are the type that get repeated ad infinitum on E4 etc. Ugh.

Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens don’t deserve to be put in the rubbish category with HIMYM and pretty much any Chuck Lorre show. ELR and TKOQ have a fair few Seinfeld traits that I love :lol:

Context is everything. You can’t exactly base your opinion on a 9 second video without seeing the whole scene/episode in full.

Series 1 is pretty poor tbh. Series 2 is an improvement, and S3-S8 is comedy gold at its absolute finest! :lol: :wub:

Out of interest how many episodes of these highly rated shows have you actually seen? If you haven’t seen that many then it’s hard to take your opinion seriously in all honesty.

Friends is not totally without merit. I love Jennifer Aniston's comic timing.

The Big Bang Theory was fine for about 4 or 5 series. I especially liked the script for Sheldon and for Beverly, Leonard's mother. She's one of my favourite minor characters in a sitcom.

 

I expected to hate Mrs Brown's Boys a lot more than I did. I don't watch it and would leave the room if it came on but I don't hate it.
