I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a sort of Drake repeat for the new Ed Sheeran album. Huge first day figures but then everything quickly falling away apart from Bad Habits, Shivers and the new single.

I'm gonna predict almost the opposite, Bad Habits and Shivers both peaked in week 2 - 4 in terms of streams, and while I do think the album will get the most streams in day 1, I think it'll hold up very well for 2 - 3 weeks. Ed is hardly known for being a front-loaded artist lets be honest here.

I also think it will hold up well mainly cos Spotify will push it down peoples throats like crazy

you'll get an add for Ed's album every 3 nanoseconds :D

ads for Ed's new album are already unavoidable for me on Youtube and the thing's not even out yet
definitely not looking forward to it especially as it'll mean Shouse and Ewan McVicar will get pushed out the top 50 and lose that effect

I think Ewan might be okay tbh especially as he always has massive increases at the weekend and he's holding very steady right now on Spotify and increasing on HHUK.

Looking good for Money going top 40 at this point :cheer:
Nobody is forcing people to listen to the new Ed album let’s be honest. It’s like saying that the new releases were forced down people’s throats in hmv back in the day. People still chose to buy/stream them.

Honestly Ed Sheeran's album is a major litmus test for me with regards to big album release streaming numbers. He set a still unrivaled benchmark in 2017 but so far in 2021 we've had Olivia, Kanye & Drake pull exceedingly good numbers. If he pulls something similar it'll just prove that those album releases were huge stories but it's also possible that they're exaggerated compared to our usual standard, and Ed Sheeran with his record-breaking ways could pull off something we've never seen before even despite not having the perfect storm of success as with "÷".

Yes I know I'm the only person whose interest in these stats supersedes interest in avoiding chart entropy.

How did ed’s last album perform on Spotify on release week?
Personally I think that = is going to have slightly lower streaming figures than No.6 but much higher physicals and downloads, resulting in an overall first week figure around 2x higher.

I didn't realise exile was nearly top 150 again (after it's use in the finale of Netflix series 'You') :cheeseblock:

Still mad that it wasn't pushed properly as a single

Sweater Weather close to making another top 50 return. Shame Ed’s album will ruin any chance of that

can’t Tiktok get some new material instead of boosting Sweater Weather yet again? it didn’t even leave the top 200 since the start of the year when it got into the top 40. -_-

they also seem to be boosting MKTO - Classic even more than usual too as its now at 71. another song we could very much do without having a revival (though I’m sure it’ll stall out soon).

it's crazy how long the titktok effect lasts, can go for months and months

Tom Odell - Another Love has been in the top 200 fore ages now
