December 2, 20213 yr Author The video is out at 8am tomorrow, sounds like a banger! @1466460261158723587
December 2, 20213 yr Ed's performing on the Strictly final, presumably performing this as the final falls on Christmas #1 week.
December 3, 20213 yr It’s exactly what I expected from Ed/Elton and that’s not a bad thing. Obvious top 3 hit for the next month.
December 3, 20213 yr well its not bad which is the best I could’ve hoped for. will see how it gets along with further listens.
December 3, 20213 yr Yeah I really like it and just bought it on iTunes. It's instantly catchy and melodic, well produced, festive and joyful and has some really nice chord progressions - especially in the verses and bridge and the final outro. Sounds like the sort of song that was on Robbie's Christmas album a few years back. Will be interesting to see: 1) How it does this week 2) Whether it holds up after the first week among the usual classics, especially on streaming - it will do well on sales right up to Christmas Day. 3) Whether longer term it hangs around like One More Sleep/Underneath The Tree/Santa Tell Me or disappears like...nearly every other modern Christmas song... December 3, 20213 yr Video is fun too, nice homage to Shaky, Wizzard, Wham!, East 17, LadBaby and The Snowman/Walking In The Air. With those cameos too it all feels very, very British so I'm not sure how that will translate to its hit potential outside the UK/Ireland. Also love the film crew showing up in the reflection of Elton's glasses at 2.24!
December 3, 20213 yr I enjoyed it! It’s pleasant and for sure a number one. Can it get the Xmas no.1 and hold off LadBaby? I’m not too sure, but can see it being number one this week.
December 3, 20213 yr Well, it's not bad, and they obviously worked hard on the song and video. However, it is a little clinical and marketing department produced. There are so many Christmas bells in it, and it has been produced to within an inch of its life. It smacks a bit of desperation for the Cmas no.1, so it is ironic that the Sausages Gang will be like, um, no x
December 3, 20213 yr It definitely encapsulates the festive spirit and the video is a lot of fun. I feel like it's gonna take quite a few listens for me to remember it though.
