It annoys me how people agree that it’s bad that Jesy black fishes but then compare it to Leigh sending an annoyed message to a fan when there clearly not comparable.

 

Leigh has had to deal with so much in the music industry just because of the colour of her skin. The fact that Jesy doesn’t understand this and appropriates black traits whenever she feels like it through the black fishing and the lyrics and visuals in the Boyz video, must be so frustrating and upsetting for Leigh. Especially as they were all so close for so long.

 

Yes Leigh probably shouldn’t have sent those messages but I can’t totally understand why she did.

If she loves black culture so much then promote and lift up.black women and artists - JoJo for example is a white woman and has love for the genre and culture but has not once done anything to appropriate said culture, she is always promoting other black female artists as well too.

I just think it's important to educate ourselves, understand that why some people are offended and upset and how deep it really goes rather than just brushing it off as ignorance or using mental health as an excuse.

could jesy have guessed that nicki was going to go that hard? who knows. but did she just turn up unexpectedly to a nicki’s live + this just happened? absolutely not. the topics were clear, they knew they were going to talk about this. jesy sat there + acted like her hands were clean. it was so disgusting.

I could literally see and feel how uncomfortable Jesy was when Leigh was brought up.

 

However, i'm really glad she apologised to people and said she really didn't intend for people to feel offended, you could tell that was genuine - but people want to ignore that as it doesn't fit their narrative of Jesy.

 

I'm also glad she addressed nothing was said over 9 years and only until recently.

 

I do not condone Nicki saying that mean stuff about Leigh but she did have some points about being silent for so long and only recently coming out with it and messaging influencers to post things.

 

Jesy said Leigh-Anne texted her about it after Sweet Melody video. In her own words "after the last video we did together".

Blackfishing is still something new to people. I doubt that five years ago, Leigh-Anne herself thought it was a problem!

I completely agree with that and as far as I know I don’t think anyone else is disputing this. She tried to explain the video in the live I’m not sure if you watched that bit and although I hear what she’s saying it should never have been made at all.

Watching that video, Jesy did not look comfortable throughout. It felt like she was in a video session with her boss! I don't know, it felt so uncomfortable to watch.

This live video should never have happened, or maybe decided on some no-go areas. But I guess that was the whole point.

I really ask that respectfully and not in a shady way. I think she handled it well, she didn't say anything negative about the girls. Yeah she laughed but it was funny and an awkward situation, she did well being quiet for the whole 5+ minutes Nicki was ranting.

It’s baffling how it’s come to this really. I’m sure there is right and wrong on both parts at some point but it is just disappointing that a group based on friendship has come to this, regardless of what it’s about. I hope the single charts and Jesy can take some time away to reflect and educating.
