I only added the 3 girls as they have the most material but which do you want most. Also do you think sales wise they would all pretty much sell the same or would there be a huge difference.

I think in order Mel C, Emma then Geri in terms of how well they'd go.

All three would be a pretty reasonable idea I think.

I think Melanie could have quite a surprisingly successful GH if she released and promoted it correctly. WYG / NBTSA / ITTY are probably the most remembered singles and if she has them on I think it would attract more casual sales than the other two would.

That said I think all 3 of the girls would have their biggest selling album since the 2000's decade from releasing a GH and again if promoted right I could see all 3 having a top 10 out of one.

Emma and Geri would need to include B-sides on theirs.

Emma, personally. And I think hers and Mel C would be the most welcomed by the public too, if promoted right and with various packages available.

Emma has a stellar line up of singles (with the obvious duds like What I Am and Downtown).

Sadly, both Mel C and Emma are in dire situations for that as they released on separate labels and their biggest hits all come from labels they dont have relationships with anymore.

Here is what I would have for standard editions:

Melanie C

1. Going down

2. Northern star

3. Never be the same again (feat Lisa Left Eye Lopez)

4. I turn to you

5. Here it comes again

6. On the horizon

7. Yeh, yeh, yeh

8. Next best superstar

9. First day of my life

10. Carolyna

11. Think about it

12. Weak

13. Loving you (with Matt Cardle)

14. I know him so well (with Emma Bunton)

15. Anymore

16. Who I am

17. Blame it on me

18. New song

19. New song

20. When you're gone (with Bryan Adams)

Geri

1. Look at me

2. Mi Chico Latino

3. Lift me up

4. Bag it up

5. It's raining men

6. Scream if you wanna go faster

7. Calling

8. Circles around the moon

9. Ride it

10. Desire

11. Love never loved me

12. Half of me

13. Angels in chains

14. New track

15. New track

16. Wannabe solo version

Emma

1. What took you so long

2. Take my breath away

3. We're not gonna sleep tonight

14. All I need to get by (with Jade Jones)

15. New track

16. New track

17. Solo 2 become 1

18. What I am

I’d like one from each. A Geri one of all her EMI era material seems likely at some point I’d say. The 9 singles + b sides and mixes would be very easy to throw out there with little effort from anyone.

A Greatest Hits with new material and promotion by one of them doesn’t seem that likely. I guess maybe Mel C.

A Mel C GH makes most sense, but any excuse to see Geri involved in something musical, especially if celebrating the hits a.k.a. acknowledging her good ol' garish self.

In my very honest opinion, the only one of the three with any business releasing a GH is Melanie C as she has the most dedication to making music but also evolving and touring her music.

If the other two did a release it would come off as a singles collection more than a GH.

I pretty much think the same, I'd like to see them release them although geri or emma may just get a essential cheap cash in style release like the recent sugababes one.

IKHSW

and

OTH

wont be on Mel C Greatest Hits!

Melanie C would be the only one that makes sense. I could see that having some interest from the gp, the others don't stand a chance.

Geri had that "Playlist" collection, unfortunately only available on digital download. I don't get why they didn't at least release it as a budget cd - I could see it at least going into the top 75 and probably sell a few thousand copies in the long run.

I'd probably do a proper collection for her featuring all her singles + some b-sides and 100% Pure Love could be dug up from the archives.

I know they won't but they certainly should be. On the horizon is one of Mel's top 20 hits and I know him so well is one of her bigger sellers since her come down in sales, plus would be nice to have a song to represent every album.

If she did it more as a singles collection then I'd include Understand and Weak over IKHSW

I agree with the comments that overall they should go for a Collection type of release, or even a Best Off rather than a Greatest Hits as that would certainly be self-defeating...

I disagree, if dead or alive can have a greatest hits with just one top 10, Bonnie Tyler with 2 or Kelly Clarkson with 8 then Geri with 8 and Emma / Mel with 7 certainly can.

Also it’s not just U.K. Mel has quite a few good charting hits in other countries

- when you’re gone #2 Scotland

- going down #2 Scotland

- Northern star #4 U.K.

- never be the same again #1 U.K, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Scotland

- I turn to you #1 Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, US dance chart

- if that were me #7 Belgium

- here it comes again #2 Belgium

- on the horizon #5 Belgium

- yeh yeh yeh #13 Spain

- melt / yeh yeh yeh #27 U.K.

- next best superstar #3 Belgium

- first day of my life #1 Germany Portugal Spain Switzerland

- better alone #33 Switzerland

- I want candy #9 Denmark, Italy, Scotland

- the moment you believe #1 Spain

- carolyna #1 Portugal

- this time #12 Portugal

- Rock me #38 Germany

- think about it #30 Switzerland

- I know him so well #153 U.K.

- loving you #11 Scotland

- who I am #37 Scotland

- blame it on me #61 Scotland

So on a worldwide scale Mel has 13 top 10, 16 top 20 and 21 top 40 hits to include on a GH.

I think Mel C makes the most sense as she’s had the most material (although many I wouldn’t class as hits)
I think people need to remember that in the long run a hit collection is meant to be a showcase of an artists catalogue that the general public might be interested in (which, let's face it, usually are their hits) and meant to sell in the long run. I don't think any of their solo collection would set the charts on fire, but I could certainly see Geri's, Mel C's and Emma's at least selling minor amounts as long as they're being kept in print. Mel C's would probably be her best selling album since Beautiful Intentions at the very least. A good baseline of success for it would be to look at Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Song from the K-tchen Disco - it's not sold huge amounts but seems to be a recurring presence, especially whenever she promotes anything now.
