Ed done 117k last week and will be around 50k this week, it’s not THAT huge a drop off compared to some albums.

He did 139k. But yeah, a drop of 'only' about 64% in the second week is not especially awful by recent #1 standards. It is however a bigger dropoff than '÷' had (that fell by 55% in its second week).

I went to try and put together a little spreadsheet of the first vs. second week sales of this year's #1 albums but quickly ran into a problem where the second week sales of both slowthai and Mogwai were not mentioned in the MW reports so I gave up on that xx if anyone else has that info and/or can be bothered to estimate those and any others that are not public knowledge that would be interesting (but suffice to say there are definitely a lot of #1 albums this year which had a bigger second week drop than Ed is having).

2,606 for slowthai and 2,822 for Mogwai.

No sales figures quoted but Voyage is confirmed as number 1 in Ireland!

"The iconic group’s ninth studio album enters at the summit and claims the biggest opening week of 2021 so far, surpassing Olivia Rodrigo’s first week figure for her debut album Sour back in May."

And Gold moves back up to number 6. It has been in the Top 50 every week since the OCC took over the chart at the start of 2017.

Nearly 30k shifted on vinyl too!

Voyage’s total is made up of 90% physical copies, including 29,900 on vinyl, which makes it the fastest-selling vinyl release of the century, overtaking the 24,500 first-week vinyl sales of Arctic Monkeys’ Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino in 2018.

I'm gonna say just a snatch above 200k

So 47 of us got the right range but well done to Tawdry who was spot on!

Delighted to see Abba heading for over 200k this week. A magnificent achievement for their first new album in 40 years.

I think people are really over estimating Adele’s first week sales but we’ll see. She will sell more than Sheeran but don’t think she’ll do as well as Abba (well I hope not)! The market has considerably changed since her last album release and while I’m sure it will do well, I doubt it will come anywhere close to the dizzy heights of her last album sales or the previous album. Look at how much Ed Sheeran’s album sales have dropped off this week and don’t think anybody expected that and he’s had two successful singles out before his album.

I am 100% certain she will have no issue whatsoever outselling Abba.
