They did it thanks in part to their slightly anachronistic bent: Early cover songs included “Against All Odds,” “Uptown Girl,” and “Mandy,” soft-rock classics that were hardly standard fare for a group aimed at preteen girls. October 22, 20214 yr Chart music last year was dire for me looking back. Midnight Sky and at a stretch Tick Tock are the only songs I liked in the top 10. That compares to five I really like that are set to be top 10 today, and I don't mind a few others too. 2011 is my high point from the years listed though Rihanna/Calvin, Charlene, Maroon 5/Xtina, Kelly, Christina and Lana <3333 Love the Girls Aloud and Meat Loaf songs from 2006 though! And MCR felt like such a landmark No.1 for that genre.
