It wasn't so bad in the download era when in an average year Mariah and The Pogues would make the Top 20 for a week or two and a couple of others might reach the lower end of the Top 40. It happened and some years the effect was a bit more pronounced than others (probably due to tracking weeks) but it never hugely disrupted the chart as a whole.

It's just a write off now. I mean 30 (75%!!!!!!!) or more of the Top 40 taken over by Christmas songs of which maybe 3 might actually be new releases.

Gaga is so dumb not to release something for Christmas since everyone gets a slice of that cake.
Christmas Tree isn't even a Christmas song with those suspicious lyrics, I'm talking about a real Christmas song or album like Mariah, Bublé and Kelly's.

Because surely families and stores will play during the Christmas season a song that has these lyrics:

Ra pa pam pam, ra pa pam pam

Ra pa pam pam, ra pa pam pam

Light me up put me on top, let's falalalalalalala

Light me up put me on top, let's falalalalalalala

The only place you wanna be

Is underneath my Christmas tree

The only place you wanna be

Is underneath my Christmas tree

Light me up put me on top, let's falalalalalalala

Light me up put me on top, let's falalalalalalala

Ho ho ho, under the mistletoe

Yes, everybody knows

We will take off our clothes

Yes, if you want us to we will

You, oh ,oh, a Christmas

My Christmas tree is delicious

Oh, oh, a Christmas

My Christmas tree is delicious

It's a Christmas song but it wasn't made for Christmas.

Is this the one ABBA are doing for Christmas? :kink:

At Christmas Eve (which is the biggest day for Christmas songs streams), do you think the streams will be higher or lower than last year?

The only Christmas song worth caring about is Sia's ultra quirky "Santa's coming for Us' and that's on perma ACR now. :(

Everything else is just so meh! Well overstating that slightly but know what I.mean...

That is one of the woest Xmas songs of ALL TIME!!! Absolute screechy TRASH!!

One More Sleep, Please Don't Stop (The Cavalry), Martian With A Baby's Child (La La La La), The Cold Wind is Blowing and I don't Know Where To Start, All I Want, Good King Wencelas, Holly snd The Ivy by Annie Lennox, are all THOSE BOPS!

Mariah and Wham making official number one last year was definitely a fluke, I don’t see it being a yearly occurrence especially not this year when we have Ed and Adele around.

You forgot ABBA too
