how could you forget Snow Is Falling (All Around Us) !! :o

Ong I love Snow Is Falling (All Around Us)!! Shame it flops every year thpigh :/

The real question is how many existential songs will enter the chart on Christmas? I predict at least 7
Hi guys! Do you know if “One More Sleep” can be back to SCR now that Leona is re-releasing her xmas album and that song is on it?
The only way it would get back to SCR is if the label specifically requests it and the OCC approve it (which is extremely unlikely, they usually only make this exception for songs that were not hits on their original release).

It is over 3 years old so can only be reset manually which as Bre has pointed out, is extremely unlikely. KMIC is the single they are plugging for the re-release, so I doubt the label would intentionally put the focus on OMS by requesting a manual reset.

now time for our first midweek Christmas watch (final chart position in last year's equivalent week in brackets):

#70 Mariah Carey (LY #60)

#90 Wham (LY #76)

Just slightly down on last year then positions wise, what about sales wise?

The new Kevin the Carrot advert uses an instrumental version of Fairytale of New York. May help it out this year

final chart

#69 Mariah Carey (LY #60) :whip:

#85 Wham (LY #76)

next week on the Christmas watch:

Mariah Carey (LY #31)

Wham (LY #44)

Pogues (LY #63)

Bublé (LY #79)

Shaky (LY #82)

Band Aid (LY #86)

Elton (LY #91)

Bieber (Alexa) (LY #93)

probably won't get quite so many in this year's equivalent week and hopefully not quite so early for Mariah going top 40 either.

what do we think for next week then? probably just Mariah and Wham going top 40. Shaky, Ariana, Band Aid, Brenda and Kelly seem primed as the next songs to re-enter the top 100 too, being top 200 on either Apple/Spotify. Alexa shenanigans could begin too perhaps though I think that'll only really kick in December.

Probably best to show comparison with 2019 to see the ups and downs as it seems 2020 was random in terms of early listening.

2019 isn't the best comparison either, there definitely seems to be more appetitive for Christmas music this year still in comparison even if it is down on last year.

for reference:

2019, this week equivalent:

#59 Mariah

#80 Wham

2019, next week equivalent:

#34 Mariah

#43 Wham

#57 Ellie Goulding (Alexa)

#59 Little Mix (One I've Been Missing)

#71 Pogues

#77 Band Aid

#79 Ariana

#82 Shaky

#87 Bublé

obviously Ellie/LM aren't staples of the Christmas season so let's call that 7 Christmas regulars, we'll probably get more than that next week this year seeing as Pogues/Bublé are already in.

Yeh nice comparison thanks Dan. So it’s is more than 2019 and less than 2020 at this point!

I think the reason why people listened to Christmas music more last year than this year is because people were more stuck at home than they are this year.
