Something weird going on with 'White Christmas' - in addition to it randomly having a huge rise to #1 on US Spotify, it's also re-entered at #73 in the UK and #28 globally leapfrogging many other Christmas songs that were already charting. I'm not seeing any explanation of this from YouTube comments / Twitter (only a bunch more people being confused by it lol), and the rise is not being mirrored on Apple Music. Strange. I immediately assumed it was a TikTok thing but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Does seem odd, especially for it to be doing better than usual in both countries.

I for one am all for ‘White Christmas’ to do better than normal this year, it’s the original Xmas hit that started them all. Only ‘Silent Night’ is more famous!

Globally White Christmas remains the estimated biggest selling single of all time, with not even the Diana tribute been able to beat it.

I wonder how much it’s sold in the uk as it’s really only charged in 1977 officially when Bing passed then recharted on numerous occasions but the 1940s release wasn’t really counted officially. It was number one in the US in the summertime though!

Adele songs will likely rebound following a repeat (already!) of her audience show from last Sunday night which was on this evening at 5.30pm!

IIRC the figure for White Christmas includes sales from the 1940s before the existence of the Official UK or US charts but i'm not exactly sure where they got that data from.
