If it actually did make #1 do you think they'd "fix" it like they did with Ding Dong & God Save The Queen and push it down to #2?

I'm sure I read somewhere at the time its sales were scaled down as it would have been deemed too controversial/inappropriate (delete as applicable) to be at #1. Not sure how that could be proven but the theory holds some water. I don't think this Kunts song would even come close to Ladbaby's sales anyway for what it's worth.

I know there has been a long standing conspiracy theory about the charts meddling to stop 'God Save The Queen' reaching #1 (I don't know enough to comment on if that's likely to be true or not x) but 'Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead' was not really that close to #1 in the grand scheme of things, I don't recall it being seen as particularly suspicious at the time. I would think if the OCC had a great issue with these songs charting they would come up with some justification to exclude them from the chart entirely rather than fiddling the figures on the off chance one of them was going to get to #1 specifically. It's not like they don't acknowledge these kind of campaigns at all.

Aside: Cassetteboy being involved with this *.* I wish he had been on the main version of the song, would have been iconic to see him getting an actual chart hit.

It holds no water whatsoever, I followed it very closely that week and nothing was amiss with the sales. It's total claptrap, a lazy conspiracy theory someone has retrospectively fabricated.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all especially witht he Sex Pistols song! But alas we have no evidence!
I guess iTunes must have also been in cahoots with the OCC and fiddled their numbers throughout that week too.

Well quite but the Sex Pistols was a different era when the Royals were much more revered!

There are indeed now *10* remixes out now! (I’m not sure why only 7 showed up on iTunes earlier). The full list is:

- The original

- Destruction remix

- (feat. BabyLad) [babyLad's Sausage Roll SFW Version] laugh.gif

- (feat. Cassetteboy) [The Kunts vs Cassetteboy]

- Merry Christmas Party Mix SFW

- Petrol Bast*rd remix

- (Rob Manuel's Family Acid Mix)

- Sausage Roll SFW Version

- Armagortion METAL Mix

- (All Sausage No Boris)

I have no idea what that last one will be like

IIRC Ding Dong was leading midweek but by the end of the week it had fallen behind on iTunes anyway so the end sales made sense.

I think there's some weight behind the popular Sex Pistols claim though. Officials from the BBC have since both admitted and denied it was true and we'll never know for certain but given how sales were calculated differently then, it's plausible.

I wonder if Radio 1 will play the All Sausage No Boris version in the chart show? I assume its been designed for chart show play after BBC Radio 1 on the chart show wanted to avoid anything political and didn't even play Boris Johnson Is A Sausage Roll on the chart last year?!

Edited by Snakin' Stevens

there’s absolutely zero chance radio one will play any version of the track. they’ll just laugh it off as another song about Boris again and not go into why its charting.
I wasn’t expecting it to challenge LadBaby but with the near universal disdain towards Boris right now, probably even more than last year, I thought it would be doing a lot better in ITunes than it is, thought it could’ve been #2 officially even
Yeah I was thinking it would be top 3 for definite but can’t see it now
