There are quite a few girl group albums that, like Spiceworld, spent 11 weeks in the Top 10. It would be great if the album got back into the Top 10. I still think the album deserved more weeks at No.1/top 10

Not with this cash grab this time

God sound off from Spiceworld The Movie would have been a perfect addition to this...

Cd1 - Original Spiceworld

Cd2 - Live from Birmingham

Cd3

- Sound off / Girl power chant

- B-sides (walk of life, space invaders and out of space girls)

- Step to me

- You wanna be in my gang

- We are family studio version

- 3 unreleased tracks

Not much effort needed at all and we'd get so much more.

Spice invaders is awful and I'm sure they would rather forget it.

You will never ever get Leader of the gang it isn't happening, they would be slaughtered for it.

Spiceworld the movie has an anniversary coming up that can easily use the chant in some way.

As for the live tracks, does it matter where they come from whether it be Birmingham or Manc or Toronto. People seem to be holding weirdly onto Birmingham as they know it exists.

I get people not happy about no unreleased songs but a song by a child abuser, a b-side that is just them chatting and already on streaming and songs connected to a movie that is getting its own anniversary release aren't going to make SW25 any more appealing.

I think I would have a bit more enthusiasm for this release if…

- All the remixes used weren’t previously commercially available on CDs (+ download/streaming). I appreciate that they’ve used that remix particular remix of Viva Forever for that reason. However they had a wide array of remixes they could have used for Spice Up Your Life & Stop and yet they chose the most common ones. There’s been a long-standing rumour that Never Give Up on the Good Times has a Morales remix, if it does then this would have been the time to unleash it.

- I can’t quite believe that there aren’t any earlier demo versions of the singles they could use? From a marketing point of view, only including one demo - for Step to Me, which is probably unfamiliar with the public/very casual fans - doesn’t look very appealing.

- Live tracks… some fans are fearing that the team will have ripped audio off YouTube for these, and honestly at this point I wouldn’t put that past them lol. Well, even if we assume that they actually have high quality recordings of all these shows in their archive, it leaves a lot to be desired. Why not do a third disc with a full live show, or at least every Spiceworld era song from a live show?

Otherwise all I can say is that I’m intrigued by what the Party Mix ends up being.

Sorry if this was already mentioned here but I read elsewhere that the Pepsi version of Step to Me has been taken down from YouTube, which seems to suggest that is the version they’ve chosen for Spiceworld 25, rather than the Japanese CD version.

Also the build up to these preorders continues to be a bit bizarre. Fans got the full track list quickly and then there’s still no opportunity to order yet.

Spice invaders is awful and I'm sure they would rather forget it.

Spice Invaders is certainly not their best b-side, or anywhere near the top of their catalogue, however, I don't think it's 'awful' -- it has more energy, zest and 'spice' than the majority of Forever. #SueMe :teresa:

I agree, Jay. However, re: remixes for Stop -- the only ones I know of are by Morales, Stretch & Vern, and The Extra Brass Mix. Are there others that you know of? I always thought the Morales and Stretch & Vern mixes for Stop didn't do justice to the song. I regret buying CD1 of Stop; the live tracks on CD2 made the single purchase worthy for me.

Yeah Spice Invaders isn't great its slightly amusing but its something that can be thrown on there.

They didn't get slaughtered for leaving it in the movie so I doubt they would for putting it on a re-release as it was recorded back in the day.

They could use it for Spiceworld The Movie... but they won't... I said it now we can refer back to this when they don't.

The live tracks I am fine with but they are so random and boring, if they are going to do it then give an actual full live CD not randomly slotted in amongst others. I hate listening to a CD and it goes from studio to a live audience cheering its weird. Also the reason people hold onto Birmingham is its a full live show as a 5 piece that was due to be released but shelved... totally different from Toronto which is 4 of them!

Actually all the above make it more appealing than if you are getting when you combine it with a full live disc and the unreleased stuff and step to me.

This release is getting backlash on every pop forum that I've seen. They would have been better off not doing SW 25 at all.

It's baffling how poorly the 25th anniversary editions have been handled. Especially when you compare them to Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Mariah Carey, Metallica, etc. These poor anniversary editions play into the misconception that they were a manufactured group who didn't write their own music. A group that only cared about selling merchandise.

Its certainly quirky. I dont listen much but when I do it makes me smile.

I never thought about it that way, but I see where you are coming from: that "bare minimum" approach certainly feeds the manufactured group narrative. Those other artists that you listed in comparison though have one major difference: their back catalogues are HUGE. If you ask the average person, the SGs released only two albums; Forever is not a well known album. What a great opportunity they are missing to add to their catalogue by releasing shelved tracks from their peak of popularity -- an era that coincides with their first two albums -- to celebrate that sound; that magic; that soul that captivated so many of us. I'd be completely understanding if they left some tracks in the vault as I'm sure they aren't all fantastic. I'm hoping there is a rarities album being considered for release within the next year. Waiting another three years for an alleged Forever25 doesn't exactly pack a punch like riding the SW wave where this group of energetic women were dominating the entire world across multiple media formats. I still can't shake this feeling that if it were up to Melanie C, Mel B, and Emma, we'd have many more previously unreleased tracks by now. Surely most of them are better than DooDoo VooDoo. :teresa:

So this artwork that leaked three weeks ago is actually real.

Step to Me (7" Mix) is being released by itself, later today (27th September).

Here's a glimpse of the inside of the 2CD version:

Here's the images of the picture disc:

Ok, so while I'm glad they went with the concept of the globe on the picture disc, I think that should have been the front cover on Side A, not Side B.

That front cover where they've partially printed the picture on the cardboard case - I can already imagine how unappealing that'll look without the picture disc being perfectly alligned, which invariably they aren't. Although the two different images showing the front are different to each other, one shows less of the image on the cardboard than the other. So I'm wondering which one is how it'll actually be.

As we already found out a short time ago, there is going to be a 2xLP vinyl. If they intend to squeeze all 15 bonus tracks onto one vinyl, in all likelihood it's not going to sound great, but I assume that's the intention, rather than them only using a selection of them? We'll see.

There's also a standard 1LP vinyl and it's a clear vinyl.

im shocked they didn't put "too much " orchestra version. Maybe the digital version will have more tracks?
Interesting they didn’t go with the new Spiceworld logo. I actually liked it a lot.

I don't think the 2nd vinyl will have 15 tracks on it. I havea feeling it will be 10 live tracks thus making it differemt and more appealing again.

I read the description on Amazon of the 2 vinyls and it’s basically the same track listing? I doubt they would do any different, this is the band that does the bare minimum.

Description

Curated by the Spice Girls themselves, this Deluxe Edition 2 LP set celebrates the 25-anniversary of their 1997 album. Spiceworld 25 features the original 10-song chart-topping album, plus a bonus disc of their favorite B-sides, remixes, and live recordings from their hugely successful 1998 tour.

Not sure how they will fit 15 tracks on to a single vinyl especially if the 25th track is say a 7 or 8 minute megamix. The live versions are generally longer than studio too.

They should have just done 10 live tracks as the 2nd LP

The picture disk is the only one that looks decent, sorry...

That CD cover looks f***ing awful, jesus christ...... WHY does this just keeps getting worse...

The way their best album has been treated for the 25th anniversary is just horrid..

BUT we now have the confirmation that it was CURATED by the girls themselves, meaning that they were the ones who picked the trackinglist... Clearly the lack of unreleased demos and unheard tracks is on them...

I liked it then and I like it now. The metalic cover will look amazing in physical form.
