I think a bass debut is normal, only with vinyls and cassettes, the box set will be released in December apparently due to printing problems, but those who had already pre-ordered remain? if so we can hope for a higher ranking debut in December

At this rate, it will be bloody miracle if the CD charts in December at all <_<

If it goes with a reduced price, it will pick up some christmas sales, but otherwise I don't see it... It is too expensive still and the quality of it seems piss poor...

The Spiceworld 25 CD would have to sell much better than the Spice 25 CD for that to be possible, I don't see it hmm.

In a odd way I do. The lack of individual vinyls meant a lot of people just opted for the CD. It has also been made to be the same book to go along with the Spice25 one so those that got Spice25 are inclined to get it. It will have a longer pre-order than Spice25 did too.

I’d like to be that optimistic, time will tell!

Forgot to mention that yesterday’s date was 25 years since Spiceworld entered at #1 in the UK, and became the fastest selling girl group album of all time, a record that stands to this date.

I can’t help but feel a little sad that the 25th anniversary of this is being marked with a re release that has by and large been met with a collective shrug. :(

Well, however, all this matters little, since this re-release of spiceworld 25 will not lead to new material, the girls will realize that they have to do much more

What part of NO don’t you understand (understand, understand)

Well today's the day we'll find out where it's charted... any last predictions?

By the way I don't think we're allowed to reveal it here ahead of time, the official reveal will be 5:45pm UK time (just under 9 hours from now), so if we find out before then we can't really discuss it until then. :kink:

I'll say #43...

#41 and will feel very bittersweet. Obviously seeing SW at its highest position for 24 years will be nice but also what could have been.
#54 because being pessimistic means that I might have a nice surprise later but at the same time, I hold no expectations at all that it will land in the Top40

Well until we can discuss it in a few hours, all I'll post is...

Well, well, well.... I'm ready for this discussion, girlies. Let's keep it clean though :teresa:

I would be really really interested in how fans in this forum would have conducted the campaign overall, specifically thinking in these areas:

1. Tracklist

2. Versions and variations available to buy

3. Promotion

And how that would have got them into the Top5 again (I mean,,, at this stage even a Top40 would have been incredible lol)

Well all the formats released at the same time would be a start. The cassette £12.99 maximum. A standard CD with a foil slip case for £9.99.

Actually pushing it on streaming, posting links to it.

And wow after this came out, the official instagram account now is promoting the streaming of the album on Spotify. I mean, nothing at all like that for weeks...

You just couldn't make it up :drama:

Music Week:

Two 1997 chart-toppers celebrate their 25th birthdays by returning to the chart, following the release of silver anniversary editions. No.1 for six weeks, their third album, The Fat Of The Land, re-enters at No.19 (3,582 sales) for The Prodigy. No.1 for three weeks, their second album, Spiceworld, re-enters at No.46 (2,257 sales) for the Spice Girls. Cumulative sales of The Fat Of The Land stand at 1,494,889, while Spiceworld has sold 1,627,657 copies.

At least we got a new sales figure out of this. Last Friday its total sales stood at 1,625,400.

The previous total we knew was 1,611,165 on 13th November 2020. The increase from that to 1,625,400 is 14,235 sales in 103 weeks, meaning that its average sales per week are 138 - presumably that's almost entirely streaming sales each week.

Streaming and a few vinyls? But yeah, this is so bad for an album that is so well known to the GP and the pop fandoms at large...

Trully baffling.

I have been thinking, is there anyone we can complain to? UMG? Like, really make a case to them that this release was a low quality mess overall. We don't even need to go into the tracklist, as that turned out to be the least of our problems lol...
