Posted November 20, 20213 yr Steps have now (arguably) released more material since reuniting than they did in their heyday but what I would like to know is have any of your opinions on songs changed, band members etc? For example, my favourite in their hey day was Faye but now I’m a Lisa bitch (although Faye is iconic!) My opinion on Better Best Forgotten has changed, not so keen on it now. Anyway, what about you guys?
November 20, 20213 yr In general my opinions on Steps are pretty much the same, H is the only member i wasnt that keen on first time around and its the same now aswell, i think this time around though what im enjoying more than when they were together the first time is they are doing much more live vocal performances which is great to see as they are very good live.
November 20, 20213 yr I love them both back in the day and now, but honestly I think I prefer them now. You can tell they're doing it because they want to do it, they've really honed their craft and it feels like a warm, natural togetherness. I used to find H immensely irritating back in the day, but don't mind him as much now. Faye is now my favourite member, but didn't used to be. As for opinions on songs changing, Hmmm. November 20, 20213 yr Author I do think the material since returning has been far stronger. Too many songs in the original run were just run of the mill. I once heard that Love’s Got a Hold… was originally an interlude that got left on the cutting room floor of another artist (unknown) and Steps picked it up and ran with it and sorry but… you can tell. It’s not great!
November 21, 20213 yr ^ Lies, lies and more lies!… it’s a stone cold bop and as soon as we collectively accept that, the better off the human race will be xx I think I have a greater love and even more appreciation for Steps now than I did back then! That’s the main thing. I don’t think my opinions on their heyday songs have changed all that much over time.
November 21, 20213 yr Author I agree with having more appreciation for them now. Maybe it’s because having a decent pop act who consistently delivers bop after bop is a rarity in the pop world now.
November 21, 20213 yr My opinion on their original material hasn’t really changed I still love it although I do think they are releasing much stronger albums now as a whole. Lisa used to be my favourite but it’s Faye now and when I look back I wonder how she wasn’t my favourite then. I used to find H rather annoying but during the WTFH campaign he has really grown on me. I love how outspoken he now is about LGBTQ+ and how he is unashamedly himself and living his best life. I used to be really annoyed that Lisa didn’t get as much solo as Claire and Faye but now I think it’s a good choice as she isn’t great live 🤣.
November 21, 20213 yr I think they have struck a good balance work wise since they reformed,, I'd say first time around they were worked to the bone where now they pick and choose which makes them happier and they can haveca better quality of life outside of steps. For me steps have great studio albums and I love that since they reformed they have kept the quality so high.
November 25, 20213 yr Then: -Loved them and collected everything they released. -Lisa was by far my favorite. H by far my least. His way of acting seemed too much/fake. -Strong run of singles. WISG was my least favorite. -Their styling was very tacky at moments. -The breakup..I didn’t see it coming and was quite upset. Now: -Still love them and kept collecting. -Faye and Lee are my favorites now. Not having a least favorite as H seems ok and more in his own skin wich I can appreciate. -Still some strong singles released. DWABH is my least favorite. Their albums overal seem like a stronger body of work. My opinions on their old singles didn’t change a lot. -Their styling got a lot better! -I think the breakup did them good in the end. They worked it out and seem to really appreciate/enjoy the band now as a 5 piece. -Claire is the voice of the band but I’m happy they divide the vocals more.
November 25, 20213 yr Oh the break was actually the perfect time for them in the long run. They left on top as a still very commercially successful band. I think if they had continued at the time they would have fizzled out more and the comeback would have being more S Club.

November 28, 20213 yr Here goes - When they first came out I hated 5,6,7,8 and then when they started releasing more music for some reason at the time (being a stubborn 9/10 year old) I just pretty much shunned all their music as they started making a bigger name for themselves and my favourites at the time Spice Girls where starting to fade away I felt bitter as if they had took their place when really they hadn’t so I didn’t really give them much attention in the 90s/00s over than buying the Tragedy/Heartbeat single cd which (maybe controversially) I only bought because I loved Heartbeat. Anyways cut to their reunion I watched the documentary they did which I loved and decided to buy/listen to all their old stuff that I had pretty much paid dust to and realised how much stellar stuff they had ! So I became a very late fan. Then with the addition of their latest 3 albums I am very much obsessed with them and have now seen them 3 times live and will very much be seeing them live again in the future !

November 28, 20213 yr I used to prefer S Club 7 I thought H was hotter than Lee Lisa was my favourite of the girls Pretty much all of those are reversed now.
