Tbh to say it is always held up as the most important chart of the year, between the decade of X Factor winners and the obvious runaway charidee single every other year, nine times out of ten the Christmas #1 seems to be one of the most predictable rather than one of the most interesting.

It’s not always meant to be interesting more prestigious tbf!

Fair point but I still think its interesting how that prestige remains untainted by all the forgettable talent show winners and five second charity wonders have got it over the past 20 years.

Possibly the only time I will ever be rooting for Ed. The sausage roll thing wasn't very funny the first time around, let alone the 4th.

The fact that the Rage campaign was so talked about in 2009 shows how big a deal it is despite the reason why it became so big in the 70s was the fact so many people were in the shops at that time of year so sales were huge compared to the rest of the year hence record companies saw the opportunity but now it’s less about physicals and more streams so you’d think that would actually affect its prestige.

The media probably keeps it going these days a lot!

There's sadly no universe in which LadBaby don't just get a 4th Xmas #1 for free. The only question about this year's Xmas #1 was whether they would release one or not.

Genuinely preferred the era of the Xmas #1 just being the X Factor winner every year. Where is Rage Against The Sausage Roll xx

Rage against the sausage roll I am screaming    Someone HAS to do this!!!

The problem is though, it wouldn't be great press for someone to go against a charity campaign.

It would if it also did it for Charity then they would definitely be #1 and #2 and lots of money raised.

I am a bit ummmm about it tbh. I prefer this to an X Factor one every year and it is for a fantastic cause so hats off to them, but then I would like a proper xmas song at the top. Rooting for Ed and Elton personally.

Streams around Christmas are still larger than any other time of year - although given that usually incorporates the chart after the Christmas week that covers Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, it's arguable the new year one is a bigger deal these days.

Yeh they are big because people are at home over the Christmas period itself but that’s a seperate thing I guess.

I am here for it this year to try match The Beatles record and get the most consecutive years. Why wouldn’t they go for it when it would put them in the record books. Nice to actually have something engage the general public with the Christmas chart again. Rather this than have stuff like Rockabye at the top.

More acts seem to have caught on to the benefits of a big Christmas single, what with the Alexa surges each year, so there is increasing competition each year. Ladbaby’s reign won’t last forever.

if it's called Sausage Rolls for Everyone

what song is it a cover of? cannot think of any with a similar title?

I thought that when I saw the title, meaning it’s highly likely to be top ten alongside the original on Xmas week if it is indeed based on that.

f*** sake not again (I know it’s for charity) but come on !
I don't mind LadBaby doing their thing for charity but they could at least come up with a new joke.

Oh FFS, haven't we suffered enough?

I genuinely don't get how this sausage rolls thing is even funny, it's simpleton humour on the same level as something like Mrs Brown’s Boys.

The thing is surely nobody is actually buying it the fourth time round because they think its funny right? Even the people who thought it was absolutely hilarious the first year aren't still rolling about laughing at the exact same joke three years later, it's just charidee purchase plain and simple.

Agreed no one thinks the sausage roll part specifically is funny, just that him coming back every single year to challenge for Xmas #1 is funny. It's basically a cult now and I'm IN :D
