December 7, 20213 yr I think either LadBaby or one of the drake songs will win from that list, although I hope to see Kevin McCallister as high as possible.
December 7, 20213 yr None of the remaining songs made my personal chart ('Whoopty' is the highest placing song that did) so I am not massively mourning any of them, although '34+35' being this high does seem a little out of place, it's not anywhere near Ariana's best but it's fine enough. 'Red Light Green Light' could have been a good song if it didn't have such a garbage hook and questionable lyrics (the flow in the verses and the instrumental are both pretty good) and 'Way 2 Sexy' I have sort of come around to a bit but only in conjunction with the music video, the song on its own is still just boring. I have very little positive to say about the other remaining songs x (except to say that I'm not sure why 'Kevin McCallister' is the only DBE song that made it here, I don't like it but it's not as offensively bad as their other hits of the year, it's too much of a nothing song to really hate on)
December 7, 20213 yr How have Love Nwantiti and Body which are actually decent enough finished above the horror of Fly Away lmao? Build A Bitch is ok too.
December 7, 20213 yr Glad there's nothing I actually particularly like in the Top 10. 34+35 is the only one I don't feel strong about either way. As highly irritating as Good Without is, i'll at the very least say I think Mimi Webb put some effort into it and it's just my personal preference that cannot stand either the song or her voice in it. It would be more satisfying to see "lol Sausage Rolls joke again" or one of Drake's zero-effort turds win it.
December 8, 20213 yr Really like all that top 10 except for DBE & Justus which are just average/forgettable and Wasted which actually is crap.
December 8, 20213 yr Author #10. Ariana Grande ~ 34+35 [109 points] Most hated: rio309 (+18) 9-18-17-13-10-9-14-28-20-8-11-{3}-9-14-14-30-30-40-48-58-71->21 A bit of a surprise entry in the top 10 here from a Buzzjack fave in Ariana though I suppose the song's overt sexual lyrics were off-putting for a good few of us. It's not by any means one of her best songs anyhow. #09. Justus Bennetts ~ Bad Day [121 points] Most hated: jim watts, Snakin' Stevens (+18) 44-38-38-{35}-39-44-50-58-63->9 Another TikTok no-name performer here with an incredibly off-putting vocal and annoying lyrics to go along with it. Certainly one of the absolute worst hits of the year but thankfully it fell off fairly quickly. #08. Digga D ~ Red Light Green Light [136 points] Most hated: PeteFromLeeds (+15) {17}-24-31-43-69->5 The first of 2 songs from Digga D all about shooting people and cheekily referencing Squid Game which had only just came out on Netflix to mass acclaim and popularity to get a cheap hit. #07. Mimi Webb ~ Good Without [138 points] Most hated: Mack (+18) 17-23-18-15-15-17-20-24-10-10-9-9-{8}-12-12-19-19-22-55-59-72->21 The breakthrough hit and biggest yet from Mimi Webb which we've also now decided was her worst, a fair assessment to be honest as it's really hard to listen to. #06. Digga D ~ Wasted (feat. ArrDee) [147 points] Most hated: Michael Bubré (+18) {6}-8-13-17-16-19-20-19-20-61-57-75->12 And here's the other Digga D song which was the bigger and more annoying of his handful of hits this year, and to make it worse they completed mangled the 2007 T2 hit 'Heartbroken' for its basis. Top 5 later this evening.
December 8, 20213 yr Yeah 34+35 didn't deserve to be any higher than that, it's not THAT bad. LadBaby, Drake's 2021 output and the musical atrocity that is Boyz in the Top 5 = JUSTIFIED!
December 8, 20213 yr My Top 3 have all made the Top 5 (Boyz, Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ and Girls Want Girls), and the other two I gave low points. Boyz to “win”.
December 8, 20213 yr Ariana 34+35 was so disappointing, uninteresting instrumental and trying to be edgy or to shock by use of the f words. Digga D does have interesting productions but the lyrics are way too violent for my liking. Bad Day and Justus Bennetts' vocal in it is rather annoying imo so that's why I gave it an 18. Boyz by Jesy and Nicki I do find a bit cringeworthy lyrically but the production is good. LadBaby's song I didn't mind so I hope neither of these are #1 on this list. December 8, 20213 yr Author #05. Drake ~ Way 2 Sexy (feat. Future and Young Thug) [160 points] Most hated: JosephBoone, PeteFromLeeds (+18) {11}-15-19-23-28-39-38-48-57->9 Seriously what was Drake thinking with this? Well it managed to make #1 in America so he's probably proud of himself there, but this is really awful and deserving of its placing here. I have enjoyed a lot of Drake tracks even the low effort ones but this was even too much for me with the Right Said Fred sample, not to mention it has a Young Thug verse whose voice I really can't stomach. He has another song yet to appear in contention for the #1 spot here too... #04. LadBaby ~ Don't Stop Me Eatin' [161 points] Most hated: Everton, Dot Branning (+18) {1}->1 LadBaby's last two efforts weren't deemed offensive enough to land in the Hate Chart but it seems despite the charitable cause behind the releases, we're all sick of him taking the Christmas number one spot now with the same 'joke' about enjoying sausage rolls a bit too much. This one parodied Don't Stop Believing which we'd all already heard too many times for one lifetime anyway so that sure didn't help here either. Buzzjack now awaits his 4th song to see if it could get any worse. #03. D-Block Europe and Lil Pino ~ Kevin McCallister [161 points] Most hated: LiamSine, coi, Mark223 (+18) {40}-56->2 Well this is a bit of a surprise, not that it's news that Buzzjack don't enjoy D-Block Europe but for such a minor hit to make it this high over everything else they did this year. I suppose it must've made that much of a negative impression on many from its one chart show play. It's rather standard DBE fare here, and the song doesn't even have a hook making it even less memorable than their usual stuff. Drake vs Jesy Nelson for #1 it is then, place your last bets...
December 8, 20213 yr I think the Drake song will win this. I didn't expect the Jesy song to be as high on this list as #2. Edited December 8, 20213 yr by Snakin' Stevens
December 8, 20213 yr Author #02. Jesy Nelson ~ Boyz (feat. Nicki Minaj) [212 points] Most hated: JackTheeStallion, JingleJules (+18) {4}-18-23-28-38-45-68->7 Following Jesy's departure from Little Mix the inevitable debut solo single release was long anticipated and delayed but once it eventually arrived it had a rather overwhelmingly negative reaction. To make matters worse there was a whole string of controversies around the release including the music video and an Instagram Live promo but ultimately all the publicity got the song was a very short-lived chart run. As for the song itself, yeah it's not great and I'm certainly not complaining that it's up here. #01. Drake ~ Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby) [215 points] Most hated: Smint, Riser (+18) {2}-2-6-10-10-12-14-18-17-64-75->11 However "congratulations" are in order for Drake for having the 8th "winning" song of the yearly Hate Chart, just about beating Jesy to it and also denying Nicki of a second #1. The song in question was taken as the UK focus track from the long awaited album Certified Lover Boy and err, yeah it is not good. Sadly Drake has just been doing very low effort songs this year and despite that he's clearly still big as ever. The song of course was also controversy bait for a prominent line in the hook. But ultimately the worst crime of the song is it being a lifeless song, and to make it worse we have Lil Baby warbling a verse on it too. So there you have it, Buzzjack's least favourite hit of the year. Joining such "greats" as 6ix9ine's crimes (against music and otherwise), Jason Derulo's ode to big bums, Calum Scott's murder of a Buzzjack fave, a silly dance song from an actual murderer, a Love Island adjacent ©rap hit and Anne-Marie at her most Anne-Marie. Let's give it up one more time for Buzzjack's least favourite lesbian! :mansoncheer: b8M6N0FTpNc Full Chart 1 215 Drake ~ Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby) 2 212 Jesy Nelson ~ Boyz (feat. December 8, 20213 yr I genuinely can't believe anyone ever thought Way 2 Sexy was something that needed to exist I find that worse than Girls Want Girls but the latter is far more problematic so happy to see that at #1. Boyz isn't the best song but the discourse surrounding it and Jesy's general attitude has put me off it even more. I've only heard Kevin McCallister once but it was terrible, not helped by the complete butchering of the song by Radio 1  and LadBaby's song was his least terrible but still, that's not saying much x
December 8, 20213 yr A well deserved top 2. I usually like Drake (or at worst just find him boring) but 'Girls Want Girls' is pretty actively bad. And that Jesy song is just misguided in so many ways.
December 8, 20213 yr Very deserved Top 2. "Let's ride some controversy to get a Top 10 because this is musical shit" and "erm I gave up putting effort in a few years ago... lesbians yeah".
December 8, 20213 yr I actually think the other Drake song should have won, the Right Said Fred one, thats even worst than Girls Want Girls
December 8, 20213 yr Tbf everything from Drake since One Dance has been shite. Nice For What is a banger and God's Plan and In My Feelings are both decent enough imo. It was that terrible mixtape he released at the beginning of this year that was the alarm bells for the further shite that was to come.
