December 10, 20214 yr  Missed the top 40 this week? Juice WRLD and Justin Bieber Wandered To LA 2nd single from Fighting Demons Released: 3rd December 2021 Label: Grade A Productions / Interscope Records Video ioxhcuNSxZk Biography Juice WRLD Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Jarad Higgins would freestyle rap through his school hallways. As a teenager, he began recording as Juice WRLD (a nod to the 1992 film starring 2Pac) and set his eyes on stardom. “My biggest fear is not getting to the point I want to,” he told Apple Music in the documentary accompanying his 2018 Up Next campaign, “but that’s also my biggest strength.” His distinctive, genre-blending take on emo rap—Auto-Tuned vocals, hints of pop punk, and beats inspired by Chief Keef and Chicago drill—shines on the breakthrough singles “Lucid Dreams” and “All Girls Are the Same,” which plumbed grief and regret and heartbreak with alarming honesty. Just five months after his star-making debut project, Goodbye & Good Riddance, he released a full-length collaboration with Future that felt like a euphoric, decadent victory lap. His second full-length solo project, Death Race for Love, released in March 2019, continued to mine personal pain for maximum drama, while collaborations with BTS and Ellie Goulding exhibited his range. Juice WRLD passed away in Chicago in December 2019 at age 21. - Apple Music Justin Bieber There’s a moment in a 2020 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe where Justin Bieber begins—quietly, hesitantly—to cry. “It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turning their back on you in a second,” Bieber says, each clause kicking up memories like dust. The point isn’t to weep with or for him—he had more dreams come true in his first 25 years than most people manage in a lifetime. But he’s also one of the few pop stars of his generation to have truly grown up in public, weathering the cable newsification of celebrity culture in the internet era while still trying to develop as both an artist and a person. Even early on, you could tell he had his eye on the future, balancing a doe-eyed wholesomeness with earnest attempts at hip-hop and R&B, material that suited him as a kid with material that reflected his growth into adolescence and adulthood. Some teen-pop singers end up trapped in amber; Justin Bieber has, knocks and all, kept swimming. Born in London, Ontario, in 1994, Bieber was famously discovered when his future manager, Scooter Braun, stumbled on some performance videos that Bieber’s mom had uploaded to YouTube to share with family and friends. Braun, who understood not only Bieber’s appeal but the potential of the internet, encouraged him to keep making videos and keep the equipment cheap—an approach that not only helped Bieber’s growing fanbase to understand that he was still just a kid like them, but drafted a new blueprint for how artists could reach audiences in the digital era. With the exception of a voice change around 2011, 2009’s My World, 2010's My World 2.0 and 2012's Believe are more or less of a piece: the sound of a boy trying to stick the landing into puberty. Released in 2015, Purpose showed Bieber developing a more thoughtful connection to his material, including collaborations with vanguard pop producers like Diplo, Skrillex and benny blanco. After a five-year break during which Bieber underwent significant personal changes—including a detox from touring life, a diagnosis of Lyme disease and a epiphanic marriage to Hailey Baldwin—he came back with 2020’s Changes. “People have been putting me on a pedestal,” Bieber told Apple Music. ""I didn’t ask for that. Obviously I love making music, but there are a lot of people that love making music and they’re not in the position that I’m in. I’m just trying to steward that wisely, steward my relationship wisely. I want people to take a look at my story—hopefully, my words can make a difference.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Juice WRLD 2018 10 Lucid Dreams -2*- MILLIONAIRE 2018 55 Fine China (Future & Juice WRLD) -1- 2018 80 Armed & Dangerous -3*- 2019 39 Robbery -1- 2019 58 Hear Me Calling -IG- 2019 41 Fast -AT- 2019 33 Hate Me (Ellie Goulding & Juice WRLD) 2019 88 Graduation (benny blanco & Juice WRLD) 2019 42 Bandit (Juice WRLD & YoungBoy Never Broke Again) -NAS- 2019 53 All Girls Are The Same -1*- 2019 98 Legends -1- 2020 01 Godzilla (Eminem feat. December 10, 20214 yr  Missed the top 40 this week? 5 Seconds of Summer 2011 Non-album single Released: 3rd December 2021 Label: 5SOS Video mswTPtPMprw Biography In a few short years, 5 Seconds of Summer evolved from a charming pop-punk band to one of the more formidable forces in rock and pop. Formed in Sydney, Australia, by college friends Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin, 5SOS first got a foothold in 2011 with a series of acoustic covers posted to YouTube—a path that helped them build their ravenous fan base from the ground up. After a profile-boosting tour with One Direction in 2013, they released their self-titled debut album, which combined the punchy, hook-heavy sound of bands like blink-182 and My Chemical Romance with a strong pop gloss, topping charts in 14 countries almost instantly. In 2015, they followed with Sounds Good Feels Good, and then they made a big stylistic leap for 2018’s anthemic, dance-oriented Youngblood. On one hand, 5SOS are part of a lineage that dates back to (and before) The Beatles: four charismatic, fresh-faced guys out having fun. But flipping a narrative that could easily turn saccharine and bubblegum, 5SOS's youthful, playful appeal is decidedly edgier. They also represent a different shift in pop-punk's audience, from the dude-heavy ’90s to a more inclusive, female-friendly 2010s—one the band has embraced with good faith and open hearts. Reflecting on their bond with one another, frontman Hemmings told Apple Music, “To have people in the same position as you is very comforting. And to know that however you’re feeling, there’s three other people who have felt the same way. I don’t know how to say it without getting too emotional. This is my whole life; these are my brothers.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2014 01 She Looks So Perfect -1- 2014 19 Good Girls -IG/4- 2014 02 Don't Stop -2- 2014 80 Try Hard -B-SIDE- 2014 07 Amnesia -3- 2015 14 She's Kinda Hot -1- 2015 44 Fly Away -IG1- 2015 60 Jet Black Heart -IG2/3- 2015 88 Money -IG3- 2015 49 Hey Everybody! -2- 2016 28 Girls Talk Boys -OST- 2018 22 Want You Back -1- 2018 04 Youngblood -2- MILLIONAIRE 2019 99 Lie To Me (feat. December 10, 20214 yr 40 | 34 | 4th week Imagine Dragons, JID and League of Legends Enemy Soundtrack single from Arcane League of Legends Released: 28th October 2021 Label: KIDinaKORNER / Interscope Records Chart Statistics NE (25/11/2021) | 66-40-34-40 Sales: 20k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 41 Sales 97 Audio Streaming __ Video Streaming Video D9G1VOjN_84 Biography Imagine Dragons "In 2011, Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons were pulling six-hour shows at local casinos for just enough to cover rent and Taco Bell; a year-and-change later, they were Platinum. Formed in Provo, Utah, by a group of high school and college friends, the band self-released three EPs before making the leap to Interscope Records in 2012, delivering their full-length debut, Night Visions, later that year. Led by a pair of explosive singles (“It’s Time” and “Radioactive”), the band went on to become one of the more singular successes of the 2010s, leveraging stadium-ready indie rock with synth-pop, dubstep, stomping folk, and hints of New Wave—a sound that jumped out of speakers like a bright neon light. They followed up at a steady clip (2015’s Smoke + Mirrors, 2017’s Evolve, 2018’s Origins), refining their sound without dulling its cathartic edge. Talking with Apple Music about their 2018 track “Zero,” vocalist Dan Reynolds described the role of empathy in both writing and performance—a cornerstone of the band’s success. “I carried around this big tenor saxophone that was bigger than me,” he said, remembering early adolescence. “I was, like, 5-foot-2; I was a tiny kid. So, for me, I look out and I see these people in the crowd and I’m like, Oh, you’re going through that right now. Give it time—you’re gonna come into your own and blossom. So, for me, this song is for all those people.” - Apple Music JID On “151 Rum,” the pyrotechnic, lyrical master class from JID’s chameleonic 2018 release, DiCaprio 2, the ATL MC raps, “Don’t compare me to no other other n****s.” On its face, it’s the sort of weightless statement thrown out by rappers since rap began, but JID’s slow-building career and versatility from album to album, track to track, gives the line an urgency and power: No one in the game raps quite like him. Born Destin Choice Route in 1990, JID came up with other Atlanta mainstays like EARTHGANG, 6LACK, and Hollywood JB. His first mixtapes brought him local acclaim, and in the early 2010s, his hyperactive rhyme scheme made him a standout amongst the narcotic Auto-Tune of other ATL staples and up-and-comers. J. Cole and Dreamville Records had been gathering a stable of lyrically obsessed, boundary-pushing MCs, so inviting JID and his kaleidoscopic vision of rap to the Dreamville cohort was an obvious choice. Route signed with the label in 2017 off the strength of mixtapes like 2015’s DiCaprio and 2016’s Bears Like This Too Much with his Spillage Village collective. But under Cole’s tutelage, JID found confidence in his underdog status as Atlanta’s wordy, hyper-intelligent lyricist. He earned comparisons to Kendrick Lamar on his label debut, The Never Story, occasionally mirroring K-Dot’s nasally flow on songs like “Despacito Too” from DiCaprio 2 while firmly establishing himself as a wholly unique stylist. Over bass-heavy, psychedelic beats, JID puts an old-school-style emphasis on incisive lyrics, energizing fans and those who touch the mic. And though he was once a student of J.
