I’ve just read an interview with him saying that the song has no meaning, and that it’s built on melodies rather than lyrics lol

If I had a penny for every time Ed Sheeran was featured on an afrobeats song by an artist whose name is a word starting with F and then three letters, I'd have 2 pennies. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

The original 'Peru' is a bit of a bop, Ed seems like a slightly weird choice of collaborator for it but if it gets it more attention...

Oh I kinda like the original, surprised Ed's jumping on it

especially cos the song has already charted so he cannot be added to the credits

It has been performing very well on streaming the past few days, should certainly be a top 10/5 contender next week. But will Ed be credited?

Not heard the original yet but this is a really catchy track. If it took Ed's name to make it blow up then so be it.

Surely not a remix released on an Ed Sheeran song just before the week it has a great chance of getting to no.1 :P

I hope it gets there - it would be nice to have an Afrobeats no.1 and it is a real earworm. And it's really a Fireboy DML song musically, Ed just adds vocals.

^ that was just another remix of the original (so no Ed on it), for what it's worth. I guess it was supposed to be an attempt to break the song in the US but not sure it was really needed, the song is doing fine there as it is.
