These days I would say Everton, remember Villa have only recently been promoted back to the Prem whereas Everton have never left.
Not sure Chris Wood is a good signing though, I'm not sure it is Eddie How running the shots there? I remember when Liverpool signed Downing and Carroll and the idea was there would be lots of crosses and Carroll would bang 20+ goals. Seems a similar logic is being applied here..

They've been linked with loads of strikers and seem to have been rejected by a few and come up short.

Wood has scored 10+ Premier League goals for 3 consecutive seasons for Burnley so I feel like Newcastle have thought that they can sign him now as it will weaken Burnley and he will hopefully get 5 or so goals which will be enough to keep them up and then they'll make their move for a proper new big-name striker in the summer. I think they're just worried than they're going to go down and now they have the money to spare this was a huge double win for them with weakening one of their big rivals to stay up.

True I guess!

Stoke have been flexing their transfer muscles today! They've signed Lewis Baker from Chelsea and Phil Jagielka (who I didn't realise was still playing professionally!) from Derby.
Strange Stoke took Jagielka from Derby, they must be reducing wages again!
Jagielka’s contact ran out of Derby and they’ve been banned from signing anyone until they can prove they have the funds to pay players. Derby were desperate to keep him.
Yeh just heard that during the Stoke game, he would be a useful player to have had!
Newcastle United are hoping to get a £30million deal finalised for Sevilla centre back Diego Carlos this week

Newcastle are in talks to sign Duvan Zapata from Atalanta.

Newcastle's offer though has been rejected.

It was an initial loan worth just over £4m, plus a £21.7m obligation to buy him should they stay up.

What are people making of Suarez potentially going to Villa? Feels like quite a dramatic shift in clubs!

I was just reading it now, and in the same story it links Eden Hazard to Newcastle!

Both stories seem bonkers, but, Coutinho (Suarez’ former teammate) did move to Villa so who knows.

With just under a week to go now will there be any big late deals made by any big spenders this window?

What are we anticipating is a realistic transfer to take place between now and deadline day?

Expecting Newcastle to buy a couple more players

To be confirmed:

  • Eriksen to Brentford

Martial on loan to Sevilla

Traore to Tottenham from Wolves

Probable Transfers

Alli out on loan

Diego Carlos to Newcastle United
