Is that Male Stripper song anything to do with the recent Purple Disco Machine song of the same name?

I've lost at least 4 already, but given what they were (e.g. Proper Chrimbo) I'm not overly surprised!

Athlete-Wires is the biggest lost so far, lost classic :/ also surprised at how low Lenny Kravitz-Are you Gonna go my Way ended.
I've literally never heard of that 'Male Stripper' song - my musical knowledge from the mid-80s onwards is pretty good so it's quite rare these days that I come across a top 10 hit that I've literally never heard of! It's obviously not a song that ever gets talked about or played on the radio.

It was indeed sampled in the Purple Disco Machine song though (which IIRC was playlisted by Radio 1)!

I didn't vote in this first round as per (will vote in the later rounds), I think 'Wires' is probably my favourite song that's dropped out so far as well.

A-listed, no less.

East 17 - Thunder

Lolly - Mickey

Jimmy Nail - Crocodile Shoes

Steps - Here And Now / You'll Be Sorry

The Vamps featuring Demi Lovato - Somebody To You

Written for the TV series in which he starred, this was the last of three top 5 hits for Jimmy Nail. Lolly's cover version of Mickey was one of two number 4s for her in 1999. Steps have two more songs to come.

Mickey was her only #4 wasn't it? The other two made #7 and #10.

Breathe - Hands To Heaven

Bloc Party - The Prayer

Alexandra Burke featuring Pitbull - All Night Long

DJ Sakin & Friends – Protect Your Mind (For The Love Of A Princess)

Jennifer Lopez - I'm Real

Oasis - Who Feels Love?

Prince and The New Power Generation – Gett Off

Jimmy Ruffin - What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted

Will Smith - Switch

Usher - Climax

This Motown classic reached number 8 when first released in 1966. It was a re-issue that got to number 4 in 1974. Jennifer Lopez, Oasis, Prince and Usher all have further songs to come.

'What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted' - one of the best soul/motown songs for me, not that I voted for it mind but a classic and some other good bangers from Alexandra and Lolly there as well. 'Somebody to You' also one of The Vamps best but there was no way it'd get into the next round!

Yes, my eyesight failed me there. The 6 in my Guinness Book Of Hit Singles for Viva La Radio looked like a 4. Anyway, it seems as they are wrong as the OCC says it got to number 7.

Adam and the Ants - Dog Eat Dog

Neil Diamond - I Am...I Said

Dave - Verdansk

Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts

Ricky Martin with Christina Aguilera – Nobody Wants to Be Lonely

The Style Council - Speak Like A Child

Smoke City - Underwater Love

From 1980, this was Adam and the Ants' second hit single. All four of Kylie Minogue's number 4 singles received votes and 2 Hearts is the first to appear.

Viva La Radio was one of the songs that entered in the infamous week where they failed to get sales from Virgin stores in time for the chart, so she'd have been announced at #6 on the radio but years later they retrospectively changed it to #7.

Amerie - 1 Thing

Glen Campbell - Rhinestone Cowboy

Electric Light Orchestra - Hold On Tight

Eternal - Stay

Eternal - Angel Of Mine

Five Star - The Slightest Touch

Sigma featuring Ella Henderson - Glitterball

Tiffany - Could've Been

The Verve - Love Is Noise

UB40 - Kingston Town

Robbie Williams - Strong

From 1981, this was the last of ELO's fifteen top 10 hits. Two people decided to give 16 points to an Eternal song but not the same one. Robbie Williams has seven singles that peaked at number 4. Rudebox is the only one not to get a vote. Strong is the first of the other six to appear.

I've just noticed that someone else voted for I'll Be There but they put Michael Jackson down as the artist so I had it in two different places. It now has more than 15 points so gets a temporary reprieve.
Only me and Frenchie have voted for Glitterball. :(

Ah, that explains it, thanks.

I must be one of the few people in the world that thinks 'Rudebox' is an absolute banger!

I’m responsible for handing Strong 9 of its votes lol. Let’s hope No Regrets finishes much higher - I didn’t give Angels, Supreme, Feel or Come Undone anything I’m afraid. Does Robbie have more #4 singles than anyone else with 7 or is that someone like Elvis or Cliff?
