Just noticed that Yard Act and Years & Years are both signed to Universal labels, so they’re the real winners!

Haha, often the case with these things.

Team Ed going for it, sales must be close still

Be part of history…

Already racking up millions of streams and YouTube views, Peru by Nigerian musician Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran is in a tight race to become the first ever Afrobeat track to reach number 1 on the UK singles chart.

Ed has signed some very limited single CDs which you can get for just 99p below.

The acoustic version of Peru is out now. Watch the lyric video or download the track for 59p on iTunes.

It's the fact* it would be the first afrobeats #1 as you'd see if you read beyond the first line...

*debatable when 'One Dance' exists but I guess that is a mix with other genres

It's a shame Fuse ODG never had a #1.

For what it's worth i'd be happy for Peru to go to #1, I prefer it to the direct competition (Bruno) and none of Ed Sheeran's #1 tactics can be more tragic than the LadBaby collab so...

Yeah, it feels like he should have had a #1. 'Dangerous Love' would have been more than worthy.

This album chart battle is very much reminding me of how both Kylie and Little Mix's teams pulled every possible trick out of the bag that week.

Absolutley, Dangerous Love or Million Pound Girl would have been great #1s.

Blimey, just how many albums does meat loaf have in the top 40? Is it a record? I feel like only Michael Jackson had that much of his back catalogue in the top 40 after he passed. Hope he can hold onto a top 10 placing in the singles but I think he’s more likely to end up doing better on the albums.

Michael Jackson had 6 albums in the top 10, and 9 albums in the top 20, while David Bowie had 19 entries into the top 100. So it's not a record for Meat Loaf, but it's still pretty damn impressive.

but doesn't make sense, if he makes very limited CD singles, that won't help much

cannot see how it's close when Bruno is doing double than Peru on Spotify... Bruno is consistently doing around 350K a day (358-387-374-334 so far this week)

while Peru is just above 200K (209-210-171-201)

Yeah and Bruno has the YouTube advantage too. I’d have thought Ed would need to shift more CDs than he managed with his own songs for Peru to do it, which seems unlikely.

especially if the CD is limited, he should make at least 30,000 fake.signed CDs instead

Bruno is doing 500K a day on YT, I guess we have to use the 1:600 ratio, thats 800-ish sales

Peru is doing 150K a day on YT, so that would be 250 sales a day

so in a whole week on YT, Bruno would do around 6,000 sales, while Peru would do 1,750 sales

so thats quote the lead on YT only

^^ Not sure the CDs are that limited, he was surrounded by piles of them in the pictures of him signing them.
Inb4 Ed appears on radio saying he had more signed CDs to release but held them back to allow the Bruno song to be #1
