Ed Sheeran needs to double up on his usual 30k of signed CDs to take advantage :kink: LadBaby may actually take the top seller after falling short in previous years, if indeed they do another one this year.
This isn't a thread about pure sales

With a title of '2022 year to date estimates' its not not a thread that includes discussion of pure sales either. The majority of the posts are about the 'chart sales' calculated by the mushing together of real individual purchases and the collective multiple listening/playlist streaming equivalents, but there's no harm in discussing real sales for the purists amongst us. WE know there have been multiple weeks when the no.1 was only so because of the real sales (probably even more so in the albums). Unfortunately real sale data is hard to come by.

I noticed that Ed Sheeran has re-overtaken Harry Styles in the past few weeks in the album chart. So I'm wondering if he can overtake in time for the year-end chart. Although Harry might benefit more from Christmas sales as his album is actually from this year. Taylor Swift might be the year-end #1 by the looks of things though anyway.

I'm glad Dance Monkey has dropped out. I've asked people why they like this song and the usual response is that it's apparently insanely catchy. Well, I am glad there are modern pop songs out there which people enjoy, but I genuinely never found it catchy in the slightest and never once wanted to play it for myself.

I can see Harry selling better due to the new single even with Celestial and Merry Christmas being re/added over the last two months.

‘Go’ very impressive to be no4 in the singles!

What are the sales of 'Perfect' and 'Shape of You' as a matter of interest please? Could 'Bad Habit' overtake one day?

It's now looking touch and go whether Kate will make the YE top 5 with Shivers closing the gap in the weekly charts. As it stands, the top 10 accounts for 28 weeks of the official #1 during 2022, although I expect Bruno with 7 of those will drop out.

Sweater Weather in the top 100, love to see it, also 505 on course to finish the year above its official peak of 73 I hope? I expect Anti-Hero will make the final 100 but not very high.

At least there's now a potential three-way battle at the top of the albums.

SOY 5.72m

Perfect 4.71m

Bad habits 2.80m

Long way to go haha! I doubt it will ever catch those up really - I can see it doing fairly similar weekly numbers as Perfect within a couple of years.

But the battle for #1 of the decade between Bad Habits and Blinding Lights is interesting, with the latter on 3.62m.

Wow those SOY figures are insane! Thanks

Harry's House looked certain for #1 album of the year but not anymore since the bloated 25-song version of Equals was released

Crazy how different would be things without playlist streams!

Indeed without streaming playlists the no1 would be selling 80k!

Taylor sold more than that on physicals alone in one week so not quite

(also most of Harry's numbers do come from people streaming the actual album)
