WAT?

It's CHEESE CITY CENTRAL, next stop cheese slice!!!!

Edge of Glory, Born This Way eh maybe once in a blue moon, Scheibe, You and I, Hair. The rest? Absolute hard pass.

Marry The Night?

COME ON. How can you disregard that masterpiece  I won't even get into the rest yet but first please explain this~

FGS Michael, wind your neck in. There have been various discussion points online over the years about how great and well-produced 'Marry The Night's instrumental is, so accept you're wrong on this.

'Goverment Hooker' and 'Heavy Metal Lover' for instance are wonderful deep cuts (albeit admittedly not single material), the only real skipper on the main edition for me is that Unicorn thing.

Marry the Night is just NOISE. Electronic NOISE. It needed REAL instrumentation. As is, it sounds tinny, dinky dinky, and like 80s pastiche.

:/

I tear up even just listening to this knowing that the explosive NOISE you describe comes from her sheer passion to fight against the darkness and battle through any pain life throws at you.

It's NOISE, jarring and garish FOR A REASON.

But before that, the opening 20 seconds or so (and returning in the verses)? Heaven.

THEN THE BRIDGE. transcendental.

Tinny and 80s pastiche, and the instrumentation with no vocals shows that up even more!! It needed to be real instrumentation, which would have ACTUALLY created that effect. If real pianos and drums, instead of a boring computer drum track, which are never good, had been used, THEN it would have worked as a single.

I'm gonna go for~

01 The Edge Of Glory - Late March 2011 I realise she went hard on wanting to lead with Born This Way and it has become a staple, but I think The Edge Of Glory could've been even HUGER if it led the album, it gives off HUGE era opener to me. And it would've given BTW more of a comfort blanket, as people wouldn't have got into the era finding it so divisive. Perhaps this is just me trying to suppress divisive art though, which is obviously what makes Gaga so special. So this could be me just being 'safe'.

-PROMO SINGLE: Judas- Mid May

-PROMO SINGLE: Bloody Mary- Late May

02 Born This Way (released alongside the album) - First week of June The promo singles, plus this song as the big release on the week (or the week before) the album drops could've been the big lead up to it having some biblical and Pride theme - especially with a June release (Pride Month) to capitalise on the meaning. It also had a huge non-divisive smash hit before it so this feels a tad less risky. People are getting to see both sides that we love about Gaga.

03 Scheibe - August The first sign of big RedOne pop that the locals know and love from Gaga whilst still showing a new side and an edge. August was also MTV VMA's performance time and I could invisage a high-choreo performance of this, leading into Born This Way, could've made this a monster hit. I think both songs work well together in a zany Gaga way without sounding melodically similar at all.

04 You & I October It's not a ballad but this song has always given me more strong ~winter teas and would've felt great on all of those end of year Reality TV shows, X Factor's and what not, and it's clear she loves performing this so at least there'd be ample opportunity to do so come October/November/December. And after 3 big successful stompers of tracks, I don't think coming with a wonderful song of this ilk around this time would've needed such a huge shove.

05 Hair (Re-worked Radio Edit) February This feels to me like a perfect era closer, also to be promoting around the time of the beginning of the Born This Way ball. It's got such a gorgeous celebratory feel that really compliments what the album has to offer, and I think by the 5th single, to keep people interested, something like a radio edit would be a good idea to revitalise it. Coming in at 5:07, I think she could definitely have re-imagined this a little for radios to 3:30/4 minutes, and it'd feel like a fresh incentive for fans to purchase.

Feel like I've just waded in with a massive post in the middle of a firestorm, not sure if that's a good thing or not
BLOODY BLOODY MARY NO I'M NOT HAVING IT, NOT HAVING IT, NOT EVEN AS A HYPOTEHTICAL PROMO SINGLE!!!!!
'Bloody Mary' as a single? No, but a great song and one of the best produced on the album. That pulsating synth line/beat is still heavenly.

I think that's probably one of the best era trajectory suggestions I've seen actually. I'd probably put 'Hair' as the promo single in 'Bloody Mary's place (but a future single potentially if the era went well enough), then 'Marry The Night' in Y&I's place, with Y&I as the final single to close the era and squeeze a few final sales out of the album.

That's a perfect era! But that's just me.

WRONG!! Something Steps could EASILY have released. AWFUL!

His trajectory is ALMOST the same as mine, but not as good.

Bloody Mary is actually the most streamed album track on Spotify! 10m+ more than the likes of Scheibe, Hair, Americano etc.

I don't think it's such a bad suggestion for a promo single, it's a bit softer than Judas and Born This Way too in delivery even though it's still got that aggressive electro production! Not an actual single though, I agree on that front.

I'm still waiting for you to name a STEPS song it apparently sounds like, which you never have. 🤷‍♂️

After actually LISTENING to them :)

Seeing so many bad choices here forced me to even like what she and her label actually chose to release
