Wow that's a brilliant result for 'Love Me Harder' highest song to not have charted in the top 40 here!

It was originally my favourite Ariana song - has done well to have only slipped to bronze when she's released so much since.

Both of the music videos for 'breathin' are flawless tbh. We have to stan Piggy Smallz. x

Glad that 'Love Me Harder' hasn't ended up being forgotten / underrated despite not being a big UK hit, that was the first song I really loved from her and it definitely still stands up well to this day <3

Rain On Me (with Lady Gaga) (369 points)

Kicking off the top 5 is a recent heavyweight collaboration in the world of pop! Ariana has a pretty impressive track record of tweeting about her idols pre-fame and later working with them. Like myself she had been a big fan of Lady Gaga since 'The Fame' days, even donning her debut era lightning bolt make-up and a 'Poker Face' video pose in an old photo. Fast forward to 2020 and they'd be working together on a smash called 'Rain On Me'. It was released during a scary, uncertain time in the world when news about the Covid-19 pandemic was in its infancy. But that worked in its favour as many people were clinging on to any kind of escapism while being locked away. The song is about persevering through hard times and taking comfort in the fact that eventually things will get better. So your tears are the rain and as they say: "I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive". So thematically it was very fitting for 2020 and long-term it will continue to uplift no matter what the occasion. Away from the lyrics, the dance-pop production is a real 90s throwback with its strong house influences. Gaga puts her powerful stamp on the song immediately and provides memorable moments throughout, such as the camp "rain. on. me." delivery. Ari embraces her inner dance diva too and offers a floaty, lighter contribution to the song. They worked their magic together so well that it was almost too good to be true. Often high-profile collabs disappoint but this one seemed to go down really well with fans and commercially. It debuted at #1 in both the U.K. and the U.S., plus several other charts. The Chromatica album was another successful era for Gaga, while Ari's welcoming into this world kept her at the top of the charts during the gap between her own thank u, next and positions albums.

This super-star pairing also brought their charms to the music video where both looked giddy to be in each other's presence. I did wonder if we would even get a video, back when restrictions were at their toughest, but thankfully it was all sorted in time. Two years on we can look back on a video full of pink, purple, friendship, striking make-up, choreography and of course, rain. It has over 350,000,000 views to date! That popularity certainly translates to BuzzJack where this has come out on top as Ariana's most popular collaboration. 'Rain On Me' received votes from: myself, ...ready for it, Brer, Cremey, Haus, Julian, Kath, Lewis, Liam, London, Lunar, Nick F1 and Riser - a full house of love :cheer: Its biggest fans were Haus and Julian, who gave it +38 each.

I was addicted to Rain On Me in the summer of 2020. I played it until I was sick of it to be honest but still had to give it high points in this rate.

Rain On Me  Such a joyous song!

I’ve never really been much of a Gaga fan but she won my over by collaborating with both Ariana & Blackpink

'Rain On Me' was a real moment, I wasn't much of a fan of 'Stupid Love' but thankfully that served much better as a PopGa comeback. Good that the top 4 here are actually Ariana as lead artist tho x

God is a woman (393 points)

Just shy of 400 points is Grammy winning album sweetener's stunning second single 'God is a woman', which was released to critical acclaim a month before the album. Many of Ariana's family, most notably her Nonna and Mother stated that it was their favourite song from the record.

I truly believed on hearing the (Ilya produced, Max Martin penned) track, that it would become an easy #1 single for her around the globe due to it's Hip Hop vibe, message, anticipation for the new album and fans drive after 'no tears' missed the top spot. Similarly to 'breathin' it did manage the feat in Iceland and Israel. However it peaked higher in most other regions, notably managing top 5 in the UK coming it at #4 and top 10 in the US, getting to #8 but I really REALLY thought it would go top 3 in the USA. It has collected a Platinum certification in the UK and a Double Plat in the US after shifting over 2 million units.

Promotion for the track included my favourite ever TV performance from Ariana at the 2018 MTV VMAs, where Ariana was joined on stage by over 50 female dancers, reenacting the last supper. The music video was directed by Dave Meyers who also produced the 'no tears' music video. It proved highly controversial and imagery heavy. Some scenes of note include; biblical homage of the creation of Adam and Eve, as well as Roman and Greek mythology including Romulus and Remus, Ariana bathing in a pool of coloured paint in the shape of a vagina, a monologue from Madonna and a screaming beaver.

This is of course major stan Jade's +40, but it did manage to score pretty massive points from nearly all voters. ready for it..., kath, Cremey and Brer all put in in their top 5. Myself, Nick, Lewis, Riser, Highausakite, Liam and London all gave it big points too. Lunar scored it a measly 2 points, however it does mean that every single voter gave it points.

It was a tall ask for anything else aside from the 'big three' Ari songs on here to take up those top 3 spots, so I'm happy that 'God is a woman' got as close as possible

The song that truly turned me into a stan!

God is a woman was the weakest of the 3 sweetener singles for me. But that's not a bad thing with how great those singles were.

One of her most iconic videos certainly

Nice to see 'God is a woman' actually doing well in something on BuzzJack for once after being shafted in AF Idol and Rollo's #4 singles poll x

Into You (424 points)

In bronze position is 'Into You' The song is without doubt our favourite from Dangerous Woman, winning last year’s album rate in an average of 10.3 and even crashing the site during the listening party. :kink:

Despite being such a loved moment in Ariana’s discography, the song didn’t exactly set the charts alight upon release. It missed the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching #13 in the US and #14 here in the UK as well as peaking at #11 in Australia. What it missed out on in chart positions, it has more than made up for in certifications though, being 2x platinum here and 4x platinum in the US. The video has also been a huge hit being just shy of having 1 billion views. In the video, Ariana is bored of her dull relationship with a boyfriend who isn't paying her much attention and seems more interested in everytone else and decides, in a fit of passion, to run away with one of his bodyguards, played by model Don Benjamin who offers more excitement. The video begins and ends with the pair riding away on a moterbike, wind blowing through the air. Imagine 'Bound 2' but much less weird and without the rubbish green screen.

Into You is absolute pop perfection. Not for the first (or indeed the last) time in this LoveChart, the producers on this track are the dream team of Max Martin Ilya. The song has a pumping beat in the background of the instrumentation that builds throughout the verses until the ultimate release in the chorus. Just like with the beat, Ari is fairly restrained in the verses but lets go in the pre-chorus and chorus with the intensity going up a notch, perfectly aligning with the excitement building in the lyrics (the temperature's rising in here). By the time of the bridge, the song has dropped any pretence of not being an absolute banger and doesn’t let up until the very end. The outro is actually my favourite part of the track with the repeated adlibs. The best pop songs end on a high and leave you wanting to replay the song all over again and Into You certainly achieves that. Despite it rumoured to be about her short love affair with Ricky Alvarez, the official remix actually features a verse from Mac Miller which is information I've only learned today.

Another song with a full set of voters. It, surprisingly, didn’t manage to receive top marks from anyone although it did get two 2nd place finishes from Nick F1 and Lunar as well as a being kath’s 3rd choice. The scores from everyone else where +37 (Riser and Liam.k.), +35 (Julian), +34 (me and HausofGucci), +31 (Cremey), +30 (Brer), +28 (London), +24 (Jade) and +18 (…ready for it).

'Into You' crashing the AF listening session was iconic

what a great pop song that especially comes alive in summer.

Omg yes the crash!

'Into You' underperforming on the charts... what was that about?! But it made up for it with sales.

What an f'ing great song. Definitely deserved a place in the top 3.

EDIT: Also, the Mac Miller remix is news to me too Lewis!

One Last Time (435 points)

It's very close right now as 'One Last Time' finishes just 11 points ahead of 'Into You' to claim the runner-up slot. This song is used to the bridesmaid position as it hit a peak of #2 in the U.K. Singles Chart back in 2017. There is of course a lot of history behind that placing for this special song. It was originally released as the fifth single from her sophomore album My Everything, when also factoring in her feature on Jessie J's 'Bang Bang'. The good old days when an Ariana era was properly milked for all it was worth! Back in 2015 'One Last Time' achieved a modest peak of #24 and spent 10 weeks in the top 40, decent longevity for a song that didn't crack the top 20. However, everything would change just two years later. The Manchester Arena bombing during Ariana's 'Dangerous Woman' tour shook the world as 22 fans tragically lost their lives. It was a truly horrific time and gets no easier to process as the 5 year anniversary approaches. Concerts should always be a safe space for fans and it's sickening that something like that could happen. As always, my thoughts are with those connected to the victims or who attended that night, the pain and fear is unimaginable. I'll be sure to give 'One Last Time' that annual special spin on the 22nd May. 🐝

It emerged as a comforting anthem in the wake of the tragedy, as well as 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by Oasis in solidarity with Manchester. Ariana re-released 'One Last Time' in a move to raise money for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. Her heart was in the right place as always. An additional bonus is that 'One Last Time' soared up the chart as people really connected with it. Now it was a #2 smash which feels a lot more indicative of its popularity. Ariana performed an emotional rendition of the song at her 'One Love Manchester' concert which really hammered home how much of an anthem it was now. The song was originally written about wanting to spend one last time with a lover who has moved on, but now, the lyrics could definitely hold an entirely new meaning. It is the same with the video, which focuses on the panic of the world as news of an oncoming comet is broadcast. Now, the disaster theme feels eerie. Ariana was accompanied by Victorious co-stars Matt Bennett and Liz Gillies for the video - the latter just lending her voice as the news reporter.

'One Last Time' is a dance-pop ballad that feels light on its feet but packs a whole lot of power and vocal strength each time the chorus comes around, especially the finale where Ari really belts out the title. Its consistent success on here really highlights how adored it is by fans and that support isn't slowing down whatsoever. In fact, quite the opposite. 'One Last Time' finished 3rd in our singles rate 2 years ago so has actually improved by one place in that time. In terms of the wider public - it's the nation's favourite Ariana single as it had passed an impressive 1,800,000 units in late 2020.

Unsurprisingly this was another clean sweep with voters. Nick F1 was its biggest supporter however as he awarded 'One Last Time' his full +40 points!

One Last Time is such a special song

I wouldn’t have been disappointed had it finished top at all.

I just had a good cry watching her One Love Manchester performance of 'One Last Time'. It's probably not in my top 10 songs of hers just based off studio cuts but the place it holds in mine and so many others hearts is what carries it to such a special place. Such a gorgeous and poignant song.

no tears left to cry (450 points)

Pulling ahead by 15 points, winning the Gold, is sweetener's universally acclaimed lead single 'no tears left to cry'.

This infectious dance-pop record was the first song Ariana wrote with Max Martin and Ilya after the Manchester attack, it went on to be released to launch the sweetener era, as Ariana wanted to release a "hopeful" record, following the events. I think it's safe to say she achieved not only that but also an iconic song for the decades.

Frustratingly, Drake stopped it from getting to #1 in the US, occupying the two top spots, where 'no tears' came in and peaked at #3. Whilst in the UK it achieved #2, being beaten by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa's mega-smash 'One Kiss'. It has managed 3x Platinum and 2x Platinum in the respective countries. It did manage to hit the top spot in no less than 12 countries around the world. It also won 'Best Pop Song' at the 2018 MTV VMAs.

Ariana released what was arguably her best music video to date. Ariana is presented with Platinum blonde hair, in a city where you can't tell which way is up or down. This is said to "symbolize the complexities of life and disillusionment of the world". Ariana can be seen walking on the walls and ceiling of a hallway before falling into a wall of fairy lights. There is also an eye-catching choreographed scene where Ariana and dancers dressed in suits, dance with Umbrellas. In another scene we got a preview of some track titles (including 'God is a woman') from the then upcoming album, whilst Ariana sits with her own face in her hands, with other versions of her face surrounding her. In the last scene, Ariana plays fetch with Toulouse before the video concludes with a bee flying off screen to symbolize Manchester.

I had strong suspicions this would take the top spot. All participates voted for it. Kath, Cremey and Brer all gave it full marks. It was ...ready for it and Jade's runner-up. Nick, Highausakite, Lunar, London and myself each put it in our top 5. Completing the final total; Liam gave it a respectable +27, Lewis +25, Riser +15.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and joined in the discussion these past weeks.

Predictable but incredible winner  one of the very best pop songs of the 2010s.

I just had a good cry watching her One Love Manchester performance of 'One Last Time'. It's probably not in my top 10 songs of hers just based off studio cuts but the place it holds in mine and so many others hearts is what carries it to such a special place. Such a gorgeous and poignant song.
