He’s certainly not a grime artist, nor have there been many in the charts at all in the last few years!

Songs fluking <1% increases to extend their time on SCR is still a relatively rare occurrence tbf. The bigger 'problem' is that we have so many songs that are already on ACR but nonetheless hang around in the same position, sometimes quite high up, for months on end anyway. (Problem in inverted commas because I don't think there's anything wrong with that if songs are legitimately staying that popular for that long).

Double-edged sword of ACR is that while it takes twice as many streams to get high up, it also means that the songs need to lose twice as many streams to fall at the usual pace.

they could implement double ACR after 20 weeks ;)
I feel they need to do something in regards to ACR hitting a song harder, prime example is Heat Waves, been on ACR for the past 18 weeks and was only pushed out the top 40 during the Christmas rush to return straight after, and is now not even leaving the top 30, and to be completely honest I can’t see it leaving anytime soon at all.
I don't think the point of ACR is to completely squash the impact of older songs, just reduce them. It allows a balance to be found between allowing fresher hits to get more exposure, and showcasing songs' true popularity. Sure, Heat Waves could have an even more impressive run, but ACR's still allowing it to have a huge run that reflects how continually popular it's been without it hogging a spot in the top 10 (that last week would have blocked an up-and-coming artist in Cat Burns from her first top 10 hit, for example). As tired as I am of Heat Waves (and I was never all that into it in the first place), ACR's very much doing its job and it'll leave the top 40 eventually, but it's just so huge a hit that it's gonna hang around for a while.

maybe a real alternative would be to have a recurrent chart, that's what billboard does I believe

so after x weeks, you are moved to the recurrent chart

can't recall the rules exactly but think you can always go back to the main chart if you have a xxx increase or something

wow thats crazy for Pharrell, top 20 in 2 days...

it's up tp #52 on Amazon and #58 on Apple too

 

in the US it's also new at #79 today on US Spotify...

 

That was yesterday - it's up to #28 there today!

 

Potter Payper now up to #59 on Apple, not sure how long this boost will last but it would be cool if this could give him a first top 40 hit after '2020 Vision Freestyle' fell one place short.

 

Never heard of Lil Macks but looks like this is a song that's had a leak/snippet floating around and building hype for a while. I see he is from Milton Keynes so continuing to contribute to the geographic diversity of popular British rappers I suppose :lol: (although he's not quite the first as Niko B of 'Who's That What's That' fame was also from MK and we also have slowthai from nearby Northampton).

Yep its very D Block Europe melodically, interesting to see in UK rap how the trends are going and whether the drill sound or the D Block Europe type sound will have more longevity over time, and what will be the next sound in UK rap to emerge.
