What's the deal with Reiss? I get the feeling there's something dark brewing there and I'm worried for Sonia

I actually hope he’s not anything sinister at all. Sonia deserve a love interest (I was hoping they’d put her back with Martin but hey ho) and he’s socially awkward which is something we don’t often see in soap and I think it’s a dangerous message to suggest all people like that are creeps. Even in real life, sinister people can often come across the most ‘normal’, believe me.

Why are they not allowed to explore this as a storyline? Realistically it can and does happen with teenagers having kids. EE can't bury their head in the sand and avoid real life issues as it's not in their nature to do so. They want soaps to reflect real life as much as possible. You're entitled to not be on board I guess but it's not exactly unsurprising for them to do this storyline in the slightest so they can't be called conservative

They’re not allowed because Michael has to project some agenda on to them. Yes, realistically she wouldn’t go through with the pregnancy but then if they weren’t going to at least explore that possibility (we don’t know how this will pan out) then why bother introducing the story in the first place? I’ve also already posted multiple examples on this thread of women having abortions on the show.

EVERYONE on soaps goes and has kids, no matter the age, etc, due to them beibg TEREIFIED of abortions, and perhsps EE is even agaisnt them. Tracks with how it kills off its female characters and protects its males. Internalised misogyny is a thing. She is TWELVE. It's ridiculous.

Oh I wasn't suggesting he's a creep because he's awkward, there are just little flecks of his behaviour particularly around Sonia not picking him as her lodger initially and then the way he acted towards Jed which suggests there's more than we know going on there at the moment.

But what about all of the women in the show that did have abortions? You have still failed to address this.

LINDA SELLING JANINE'S PUB?! :KIK:

I think that one of the first things that came into my mind the other day when they said that "Janine was selling Mick's share of the pub" was that at least you'd be pleased they had addressed that!! :w00t:

The big episode on Monday won't be getting an early iPlayer release.

Boo. But I guess it's worthy of wait then. Heard it's about a lock-in at the pub.

She absolutely should not be in jail over Linda's accusations either

Anyway, I HAVE SPOILERS!!!! :cheer: :cheer:

SO!!!

My London source has told me what happens.

Basically, the ladies of Walford get stuck in the pub, after hosting a Wiccan ouija board neet, okay? A spirit locks all of the doors! :o Oh my is REET tbh!! Well, it is SUGGESTED that it is a spirit - perhaps of Peggy, but Linda thinks it's Mick - but perhaps it is people taking the mick, such as Sunak.

Anyway! In the episode, the psychic forces of the Birdbox creatures that drove Mel and Abby to their deaths, having been invoked by the spiritualist night, give the five of them VISIONS of their FUTURE! Including a vision whereby the Vic has been demolished by one Nish Panesar and Janine, and replaced with a front for his and Phil's illicit drug scene thing, resulting in an axe murderer, high on whatever, going on a killing spree and ending the lives of the five ladies oh my! :o

So! Linda's like, but how could they get their "grubby little mits on ma pwarb?" Well! At that moment, Nish Panesar and his son arrive, bulldozers in tow, after having their offer of a joint partnership with Janine accepted. Janine is supposedly on a videocall with him, but she's really off doing her West End play.

Now! The ladies realise that the locked doors were a SIGN. They barricade the doors as well. Nish sneaks in quietly through the back, after opening the doors with a sledgehammer. He surprises them. They scream. He says the pub is now his by rights. Samantha Mumba is playing on the radio.

Well! Stacey was arguing on the phone with Ryan, who heard everything. Nish takes them hostage, and says he'll only let them go if Linda signs over her half fo Janine!

Well! Ryan arrives. He and Nish square up. Ryan challenges him to a boxing bout, right there in the Vic, and says if he wins, Nish's half goes to Stacey, in exchange for Stacey allowing for a reconciliation with Scarlet, and perhaps even letting him buy her baby. Nish accepts, and says if he wins, Linda signs off the pub to Janine - for FREE!

Linda is outraged, and again claims that Janine killed Mick, when we all know it was Linda who did it. Nish even says as much, and says that you never jump in someone's moving car and start fighting with the driver on a clifftop.

After this, Linda screeches and rages and says that was normal behaviour and that everybody does it, ans so it was Janine's fault. She then, in her rage, takes Nish up on the offer. Denise pulls out two pairs of 16 oz boxing gloves from her huuge Mary Poppins-esque bag, and she claims she's been carrying them around with her for ages recently for protection for her and Kim.

So! They then do a 46 MINUTE FULL SECTION OF BOXING, which is a recreation, scene for scene, punch for punch, of the McGregor-Mayweather exhibition match, in which Nish is Mayweather. Just as he is ending the fight, Whitney doinks him over the back of the head with the wooden bit of his own sledgehammer, making him tumble forward. Ryan then punches him and wins.

Nish then flees, the deeds to the Vic spilling from his pockets. The doors magically unlock, which they find out once they remove the barricades and open the doors.

It magically starts snowing outside oh my! :o Linda hands his deeds to Sharon. They smile and hug, as the women stumble into the snowy air. They now know what futures they have to avoid, and have made decisions r.e what to do in their troubled lives. (Denise decides to leave Jack after her vision, Stacey decides to sell the baby to Rylan, like what Hayley's ma tried to do with Hayley's baby. Etc etc, stuff like that. Oh, and Kathy decdes to turn the caff into a nighttime gambling parlour to make sure the future vision of a rich Bobby and family comes true). Duff duffs start. The end!

Oh, and Ryan steals the unattended bulldozers and starts a bulldozing business in Wakefield, and gives half of that cash/ business to Stacey and the Slaters. Stacey then expands her buns and byaps business into the Vic, thanks to the steady flow of cash. But that gets addressed in later episodes.

I have some dialogue! :cheer:

As Sharon and Linda look at the snow, Sharon says, come on, let's go back inside. Linda says, what?! We're only just got out, you dozy mare! They both titter. They turn to go inside. Sharon goes first. Linda srops, touches the doorframe and smiles and says, thank you, Mick! Duff duff du du du du du du.

INCREDIBLE episode. Superb build up, so atmospheric and brilliant character interactions from the 6 leading ladies and their counter-parts. Especially loved the final present day scene with them in the closed pub. And then that twist :o A flashforward *.* total CAMP moment/scene

Can completely see why they kept that one back.

So much to unpack there, especially that ending!

What a lovely episode throughout. I really enjoy those sorts of character interactions and it was a great idea to focus on just a night in The Vic and giving the female characters a time to shine.

Wonder who was at the end there in the flashforward. We're under the impression now that Kat and Phil are marrying at Christmas and yet Sharon was the one seemingly in a wedding dress there. Odds are likely to be Nish, Keanu or even Dean (why else would they bring him up tonight?). Can't believe we've got to now wait over 10 months for the outcome but I guess it'll be worth the wait as we will now be wondering at every turn who is about to be killed off. Exciting!

Ooh a flashforward :o as aforementioned there did seem to be a heavy emphasis on time in the trailer and I did wonder if this would be the idea that Clenshaw mentioned as something they hadn't done before. Interesting! Well, time for a long build-up to Christmas then but that's already set me up for excitement for the rest of the year now.

Enjoyed the character-driven nature of the episode and the touch of a 1985 chat with it being the show's anniversary

The 1985 chat was a nice touch!

Dean and Nish would be my front runners for the death!

Surprised they didn’t have Kat a part of it, she’s been a massive part of the show for so long!

Incredible!

And.. was that a photo of Lola on the bar? :-(
