Im very on the fence with Kat and Phil, there are times it works well and times it doesnt but i really do think its there to facilitate a Sharon and Phil affair down the road at some point.

With the return of Cindy and Kathy before that i really am hoping EastEnders learn that killing characters off is not best for the long term vision of the show, while its worked out and we have both back i think the team both now and in the future need to come up with different ways for characters to exit to leave the door open in the future. Seeing familar faces such as Kathy, Cindy, Ian, Sharon, Phil keeps the show steep in its history which is important for an ongoing show and its viewers.

Lola been killed off did work and the storyline played out very well (although very sad) and Lola wasnt one of the big name characters in the way Cindy and Kathy were. I have no doubt Pat St Clement would be happily back on the square if they had left the door open and of course Ronnie and Roxy been killed off was one of the craziest axings in the shows history. Abi and Stephen are further examples that the killing off of the characters only brought extremely short term benefits to the show but long term offered nothing.

Killing off Lucy did work especially as in many ways the storyline is still benefiting the show and has helped make Cindys return more believeble but unless a killing of a character can work for the show like this its someting the producers need to learn from.

Phenomenal scenes between Denise and Chelsea in tonight's episode. Diane Parish and Zaraah Abrahams never fail to deliver. I love that Denise has had a lot more focus this year but Chelsea has been through long periods of underuse and it's such a travesty! I really liked that tonight's episode defied expectations/typical soap tropes (

like Denise actually getting away and being able to expose Ravi and Chelsea believing and trusting her mother rather than take her boyfriend's side

); EastEnders has done this a few times under Chris Cleanshaw's run and it just makes the show so much more exciting and unpredictable.

I still don't understand why Denise is with Jack. She's waaay our of his league. She looks great, and he looks like a grumpy neanderthal in a suit. Aside from that, she cheated on him!

Looks like the latest episodes are linking towards the Xmas episode, it could be one of those three without going into more details and I know one of those characters are leaving at the end of the year. Just guessing :thinking:

It was refreshing to see Chelsea believe Denise almost straight away rather than just have everyone randomly declare her crazy. So much more realistic than it would have been a few years ago.

I always assume its the money that Alfie lost from the safe last year when he was held at gunpoint by that bloke.

So there's two lots of 30 grand, ome from 2019 and one from this 6ear!!! :rofl: It looks like they wanted to continue the money storyline, but thought we'd forgotten about it, and so just repeated it with a random bak-style hold-up?? But we hadn't forgotten and it just confused everyo e!!

Never thought I'd be here for a Kat and Phil wedding but I'm actually fully invested in them as a couple. Phil has come on leaps and bounds as a character this past year but also the scene outside the register office showed that Kat has really progressed and matured too.

 

Great Bobby/Cindy scenes, so much venom from Cindy but of course totally justified. I think the writing said everything that needed saying too. Here for the Suki/Cindy friendship!

 

Shame to see Billy literally demoted to a non-speaking extra. He was barely present for Lola's storyline either. Something going on behind the scenes?

I'm hoping Billy gets a bit more involved with what's going on with Jay. It does feel like he's barely been seen since Lola's exit

The Cindy and Bobby scene was great and fitting to both the current and back story.

It had to be done with Cindy and Bobby. A bit like how others felt during the reveal really and everyone pushing Cindy to just get over it like they haven't had nearly 9 years of living with him is baffling. Cindy has every right to feel raw about it and I don't see this being the end of the matter either

It had to come and its understandable too and im 100% certain Cindy will have a revenge plot ahead.

 

Also congrats again to EastEnders they have also won Best Soap award along with 5 others at this years Inside Soap Awards.

Eep at Danny Dyer dragging the show at a recent interview. I know he likes to lay his opinions on thick, he always has done, but it feels like the complete opposite of what we're seeing in the show.
