Teen stories are almost never any good. It's like the writers have no idea what to do with them. I'm not a fan of the new Amy either, which doesn't help. She doesn't seem much of an improvement on the previous actor.
The subtle start of Lola's storyline coming through now is heartbreaking as we know what's about to happen. The ripple effect will be massive for Jay / Ben / Callum / Lexi / Phil / Billy etc
This Lola storyline is going to be a difficult watch. I mean, at least they’re finally giving Danielle Harold something to actually play but it’s so unfortunate that this marks the end of her time on the show.

That fight scene! I actually full-on gasped when Kheerat's turban was removed. As a Sikh myself, I understand fully how disrespectful that is to happen to someone wearing a turban so to write that in and show it is incredibly brave from the producers. I really hope the follow-up is done well and respectfully.

I am absolutely loving the show again after abandoning it, giving up on it and not watching for a while. The Panesar family are incredible and the inclusion of Ravi too is great. What a cast they are - I really hope the producers leave them on the show and let them continue to grow and grow because they are drawing me in so much.

Also the Lola storyline is going to be a heart-breaking watch.

Can this momentum keep up! I feel like I can be on board with Eastenders again finally, but I don't want to speak too soon.

Definitely noticing how much better Chris Clenshaw is doing as a producer. It's making me a lot more interested in Christmas for the first time in about 5 years

Totally agree! I can't believe how invested I am in the Panesar family considering how lifeless they were under Jon Sen who created them! I can remember when Ravi killed Ranveer and thinking "why am I supposed to care about these characters I barely know?" but the aftermath of that has been gripping and is still really only just getting started! I've loved the layers that have been added and the build up of secrets that are waiting to be exposed. The show isn't just relying on this storyline either, you've got Lola's storyline which, as you say, is going to be an emotional ride (and I love that it's giving Jay and Billy something of note to do) and there's Mick/Janine's exit which appears to be the Christmas and/or New Year focus.

Everything has been on the up since Chris Clenshaw took over. I've loved the community feel, like characters chatting as they pass each other in the market or characters meeting up for nights out. It's not done for the sake of the plot either which has been a problem with EastEnders for a while, it's so refreshing to see characters just live.

Where is Sonia though? Last seen when, late September I think it was. I know the cast appearances can dip but we need our NHS Queen back thanks

Tonights episode was awesome.

Tears, fights and declarations of love.

Only started watching again about 2-3 months ago so think I tuned in just at the right time.

Agreed with other comments that the show is on the up at the moment. You could feel the shift coming in from a few months ago with some great writing for some Kat/Sharon/Sam scenes for example but it's really coming to fruition now.

I still think the fact they are killing Lola off after giving her bugger all to do up to this point is quite bitter though.

Ya there is that feel its turning the corner as they have a few strorylines building and there are dufferent characters involved. Lol and Jay storyline is going to be a hard watch but I feel it will be done well, tgey both have excellent onnscreen chemistry which also helps.

It's hardly a concrete source but some comments from Linda Robson suggest they are looking to cast Lola's long-lost mum, presumably for a small part in this storyline.

Cycling through all the possible material for her at record speed now they're killing her off? Praise for Danielle Harold's performance though, very strong.

Lola’s mum should have been covered in the 7 years that Lola has been in the show rather than her being shoved into the background for most of it. Actually, talk of Lola’s dad would be appreciated too given all I can remember is ‘oh he’s dead, what a shame’.

The show feels good at the moment, the only thing I can’t take to is Freddie. Bobby Brazier is fine but he doesn’t feel Freddie Slater to me. It feels like they wanted to cast the actor and then just stuck an existing name on him.

According to The Sun (who always spot on when it comes to soap news), Lola's mum will be played by

Patsy Kensit

That would be quite a good casting. She could do with playing a regular character.
