My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 100 aka Now 100 was the centenary release in the compilation series. Released in the Summer of 2018, it contained 44 tracks. The first disc contained current chart releases, including 4 UK #1 singles, whereas the second disc contained 21 hits from 1983 to 2015, including 14 UK #1 singles, making a total of 18 UK #1 singles, which is the most any one volume in the main series contains. The first disc of Now 100 introduced us to Normani (as a solo artist), although she is not the lead credit on this volume.

With it only being a single disc of current chart hits, it would seem that there would be loads of glaring omissions this time, but that was not the case in a matter of speaking. There were a few hits from Drake overlooked, as well as music from Lil Dicky, The Weeknd, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Ruti, EO, The 1975 and others..

Now 100 is the only time in the series so far to feature music from Banx & Ranx and also Bebe Rexha (as a lead artist).

Artwork Rating: 10/10 The Best Now Artwork Ever!

I don’t think I chose this as an option for any other artwork in the series, but they clearly put a lot of thought into this artwork to mark the special occasion. The fabulous ceremonial fireworks together with a couple of throwbacks to the Now Pig which featured on many of the earlier volumes, as well as the blimp flying overhead containing the original logo used for Now volumes 3 to Now 17 consecutively. The logo is displayed in bright white upon a podium, and it would become the final cover art to feature that particular font which had been used for many years prior, but from the next volume the font would change slightly.

Disc 1 Favourite: Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa – One Kiss

The disc leading track is by far the best on this disc. It was the first time Calvin Harris worked with Dua Lipa and it was a great piece of music hat was made which became a UK #1 hit. Overall there are a much better selection of songs on this disc than what the previous volume had to offer.

Disc 2 Favourite: Spice Girls – Wannabe

It was so hard choosing a song from this fine selection of “greatest hits” from this disc, and there were so many I could have picked, but I went for Spice Girls having personal significance for me as their debut album Spice was the first album I ever owned, and I thank this song for being the one to introduce me to them and my overall love of pop music from that point onwards.

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. Drake feat. Michael Jackson – Don't Matter To Me 4:06 {2}

2. The Weeknd – Call Out My Name 3:48 {7}

3. XXXTENTACION – SAD 2:47 {5}

4. Kanye West – Yikes 3:08 {10}

5. A$AP Rocky feat. Skepta – Praise The Lord (Da Shine) 3:25 {18}

6. Lil Dicky feat. Chris Brown – Freaky Friday 3:37 {1}

7. RAYE – Friends 3:25 {66}

8. Rita Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX – Girls 3:41 {22}

9. Nicki Minaj feat. Ariana Grande – Bed 3:10 {20}

10. Cardi B – Be Careful 3:31 {24}

11. ZAYN – Let Me 3:05 {20}

Overall Rating: 9/10 Amazing

I remember working out when I was very young what year I would have to wait to until Now 100 was released, based upon the number of releases per year, and it came right on schedule and I wasn’t disappointed. I was somewhat surprised about the decision to make Disc 2 a commemorative disc, but in hindsight it was a good idea, and better than putting loads of filler on the disc and ruining the quality. It was great to see a classic like Phil Collins single Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) make it’s first appearance in the Now series. It was a nice touch to include a bonus song on the first disc to pay homage to the very first song to feature on a Now volume. There is very little that could be done to improve this volume, and overall I was very pleased to own a copy at the time. It was very hard to choose 5 favourites below and even harder to choose 5 worst songs when many of them were great choices.

My Best 5 (as of March 2022)

1. Spice Girls – Wannabe

2. Britney Spears – …Baby One More Time

3. Coldplay – Viva La Vida

4. Oasis – Wonderwall

5. Cher – Believe

My Worst 5 (as of March 2022)

1. MU4 – You Can't Hurry Love (GMB Competition Winners)

2. Khalid & Normani – Love Lies

3. Liam Payne & J. Balvin – Familiar

4. Anne-Marie – 2002

5. Jax Jones & Mabel feat. Rich The Kid – Ring Ring

  • 4 weeks later...

Disc 1 favourite: Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry

Disc 2 favourite: Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head

This one is pretty nostalgic as it reminds me of graduating Uni and my 21st birthday!

  • 1 year later...

9/10 - Amazing - really loving that image and style in particular.

Disc 1 - George with Post Malone 2nd choice as that's still one of his best tracks for me.

Disc 2 - so many classics but I went for Cher

Helped by the classics list this would've been 6/10 otherwise so it's pushed up to 7/10 option!
