If this is referring to the Apple Music chart on Kworb, I believe that +/- signs show the song's movement compared to 24 hours ago. So on Friday morning if Jack was #15 and Saturday morning #1 it would say +14, but if on Friday afternoon he was 5 and Saturday afternoon 1, it would say +4

Just shy of a million for an artist that’s never had a top 20 hit as a lead before is insane! This is probably the 2nd biggest impact TikTok has had behind drivers license I’d say, unless I’m forgetting something obvious

 

I find it strange songs becoming big on TikTok just based on a snippet of the song weeks before their out, that's almost like a held back release again lol.

 

I get why Dove Cameron - Boyfriend did though because that has a very strong melodically and intense sounding chorus that really stands out from today's pop music (which I assume they used as the pre-release tiktok snippet) but I don't understand how that Jack Harlow song became so popular apart from maybe some nostalgia value in the Fergie sample (which doesn't even sound like her in the Jack Harlow song, maybe a slowed and reverbed Fergie vocal?). I don't have Tiktok but would be intrigued to hear the actual pre-release hype snippet of First Class that became popular on TikTok.

I am swiftly proven wrong with Jack not only managing the #1 debut but doing so by a pretty big margin! Great to see 'Nail Tech' hitting a new UK Spotify peak today as well, his entire back catalogue seems to have got a big bump from this release (not as obvious looking at the UK chart but he has several re-entries / big climbs in the US). He deserved to have a #1 already with 'INDUSTRY BABY' and I've generally enjoyed the rest of his output too so it's nice to see him having such a huge hit.

 

In the US it's beaten Harry Styles' opening numbers from last week by about 10k, I think Harry's was the record for the biggest opening day so oops at him losing that record after only one week :lol: (although tbf he did have 5 hours of streams lost into the previous day's update so he probably had a bigger first 24 hours).

 

Looks like it was just Apple's playlists that was causing 'Angelica' to be Wet Leg's biggest song there aw, but good to see it at least making the top 200 on Spotify even if it's only as their 5th highest song. It would still be cool if 'Chaise Longue' could make the overall top 100 instead but it just feels like too gimmicky of a song that it's a shame it's their most popular. (And 'Wet Dream' can just get out of here entirely being a pretty mid song that tried to repeat the same gimmick)

He was the lead on 'If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know)' last year, but yeah that was his first Top 40 as a lead artist since 'Don't Leave Me Alone' in August 2018!
