Take my hand I'll lead the way to a brighter day

30. Time Will Pass You By - 7.333
31. Nothing To Lose - 7.25

At #31 we have Nothing To Lose, which features on Kylie's 2nd studio album "Enjoy Yourself". Like all of her releases up to that point, the song was written and produced by Stock Aitken and Waterman. The song later appeared as a b-side to 'Tears On My Pillow'. So many tracks on the album could have been singles & this is one of them, it had a similar style to 'Wouldn't Change A Thing' with its subdued verses before the vocals become more bold on the catchy chorus. A firm standout moment on the album for sure.

At the #30 spot is the glorious Time Will Pass You By, which featured on her 5th studio album 'KM'94'. The song was considered for release as the 4th single from the album, but was scrapped when it was evident that the album had long fallen out of the charts, probably due to it taking 8 months to release the last single & instead her collaboration with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds titled 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' was released instead & therefore any future plans for the era was buried. A shame this was scrapped as its a gorgeous uplifting dance anthem with Kylie's joyous vocals soars over the slick production. The song was a cover of Northern Soul singer Tobi Legend's 1968 hit. This could have easily stood a chance if released in the summer time & if 'Where Is The Feeling'' got released earlier in the year, as this could have easily connected better with the public with its more poppy sound, a real shame.

A little hint for one of the songs that will drop next, it will be the last of one of the eras, but which one?

There's 5 possible choices, any guesses?

But don't confuse emotions with the pleasure principle

28. Drunk - 7.458
29. Secret (Take You Home) - 7.375

The last of the "Body Language" drops out of this countdown as Secret (Take You Home) drops out at #29. The song was written by a collection of songwriters for Kylie's 9th studio album. The song was considered for a single release, but was scrapped in favour of 'Red Blooded Woman', but had a limited release in early 2004 in Taiwan. The song features an interpolation of the chorus of the 1985 song "I Wonder If I Take You Home" by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. The sample works really great on this sophiscated electro pop track with cool funky beats and sexy lower vocals. The lyrics are simple yet fun & Kylie's rapping is just really cute & far better than a certain over diva managed from this year.

Up next at #28 is Drunk, which features on Kylie's 6th studio album "Impossible Princess". Produced by Brothers in Rhythm and described by Cinquemani as "one of many anthemic Techno tracks littered throughout the album." Kylie stated that the song is about not feeling satisfied during parts of her relationship with her then boyfriend. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised this made it through to the rate, as its quite out there especially for Kylie fans, but love the manic energy of this indie/dance number and the overlapping vocals overlapping the chrous against the fast-paced production. An interesting track where the title really says it all.

Nothing to Lose narrowily missing a top 30 placement.

Drunk just pipping Secret (Take You Home) is a welcome but nice surprise.

Lost in the absence of your precious kiss

27. Made In Heaven - 7.25

The last of Kylie's self-titled debut album drops out now with Made In Heaven, which originally featured as the b-side to 3 of the singles from this era; 'Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi', 'It's No Secret' & 'Turn It Into Love', before appearing on the re-issue of "Kylie", complete with a music video. In the UK it was originally planned as a double a-side with 'JNSPP', with the original plan is to heavily promote the main single during the singles early chart run and once the song had peaked, the single would be officially 'flipped' and promotional emphasis shifted to "Made in Heaven"which would become the listed A-side. However after the former single performed so well on its own by reaching #2 for 3 weeks, the plan was dropped. Definiately the best album track during the debut era, despite not actually featuring on the album until much later, a uplifting joyful bubbly little pop anthem nothing more, nothing less, just a solid standout.

26. Dangerous Game - 7.583

Yet another era drops out yet again now at #26 with Dangerous Game, which features on her 5th studio album "KM'94". The song was first performed live on her 'Intimate and Live' tour in 1998 & was also included in the ballads section of 'KylieFever2002', where it was performed as part of the Crying Game Medley. This track is simply epic, an orchestral ballad now that begins with Kylie’s tender vocals, then finishes as a show tune with solid powerful vocals that goes wonderfully with the beautiful string arrangements. This was a far cry from her PWL days & a prime example of Kylie moving forward with her evolution as an artist. Note I have decided to include the live performance as the video instead, just because it's a wonderful performance & just to change things up a bit.

The rest of the results will be in single posts now & the next to drop will be from the 2010's decade, any guesses?
Made in heaven is just one of those feel good songs, really should have included on the original release of her debut.

It’s weird how we all know Made in Heaven despite it never being on the original album.

Maybe Cupid Boy next?

25. Cupid Boy - 7.666

At #25 is Cupid Boy, which features on Kylie's 11th studio album "Aphrodite". The song was released as part of the album's minimix ,containing six songs in a six minute mix, which was released on Kylie's YouTube channel in July 2010. Kylie first performed this song at various events throughout 2010. She also included the song in the set list for her 'Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour' in 2011; the song opened the Gladiator section. 'Cupid Boy' was initally planned to be the 4th single released from the album with already commissioned remixes; but when 'Better Than Today' didn't perform as expected, it was frozen along with all the other upcoming plans for the album. Warner considered the idea to service some of the remixes to Australian clubs to promote the then upcoming tour, but the idea was ditched. Eventually some of the remixes made it on the "Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)" and "Aphrodite Les Folies Tour Edition" releases.

Again like many other lost gems this could have made a killer single as its darker rock-synth dance sound shows another side to the album. The hauntingly high vocals from Kylie are excellent and the synth snares throughout really pops off in the almighty chorus. Excellent track through and through.
Really like cupid boy and should have been a single, I think it would have been a solid follow up to the brilliant all the lovers. Aphrodite was a very consistent album for the most part and while it done well I'd have liked it to have done better. Aphrodite was was the era that gave Kylie her last big hit as it was then the market was really starting to change and not in her favour.

Like i've always said I wished they stuck with the original plan with the 'Aphrodite' & released this singles run = "All The Lovers">"Get Outta My Way!>"Put Your Hands Up">"Cupid Boy">"Can't Beat The Feeling"

This run would have been up there with 'Rhythm of Love' & 'Fever' as her very best.
That singles run would have been great especially if Kylie promoted the singles, they may have not been the big hits we would have wanted but i think they would have really helped album sales. What i found hard with Aphrodite was it started so well, great lead single and the album had a great opening week but it went downhill fast when get outta my way missed the top 10 and better than today for that time flopped, a number 32 hit in todays climate would be like a number 1 but back then i was shocked it didnt at least go top 20, i have always loved better than today myself but can concede it was a bad single choice.

Cupid Boy was radio friendly and could have had a great video and remixes.

Cupid Boy performed on X Factor in place of Better Than Today would have impacted better.

Gotta keep on pumping it up

24. I Guess I Like It Like That - 7.708

At #24 is I Guess I Like It Like That, a song from Kylie's 4th studio album "Let's Get To It". The song was written by Kylie, Mike Stock and Pete Waterman, with other credits coming from Phil Wilde and Jean-Paul de Coster due to the song sampling 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready For This" written by the two. The track also samples Freestyle Orchestra's "Keep On Pumpin' It" and Salt N' Pepa's 'I Like It Like That'. In turn the song was used on British producers deo Vistionmasters & Tony King's club track also titled "Keep On Pumpin' It", which kept Kylie's vocals and was released as a single in November 1991 and peaked at #49 on the UK singles chart.

Quite surprised that this ended being the top 'LGTI' album track on this countdown, but also not really as its a glorious 6 minute epic dance/techno track, that yes marked a major depature for Kylie at the time, with the stadium keyboards that lays the foundation for this track with many samples that manages to blend together into something cohesive, contemporary & something that really pops off on the dancefloor. One of Kylie's most interesting dance numbers from this period for sure that shows her further progressing as an artist.

Totally at odds with the rest of LGTI, but it’s good fun. Been listening to the Visionmasters version a bit recently too, funny how it always stayed out of the mainstream.

Both take me back to A Levels….memories!
